The DZAS "Glory Wagon" was used as an all-terrain vehicle to visit barrios and villages away from Manila, often with the purpose of delivering PM radios. With its own portable generator, Christian movies were shown in areas where movies of any kind had never been seen before.

A view of Lake Taal in 1950, from the easterly end. Compared to later views of the magnificent lake, this scene shows scant populated areas, and a very small Volcano Island. A geologic wonder, the volcano erupts regularly, altering the terrain. Early Spanish maps show the lake as a bay which opened up to the ocean on the southwest end! See #1108 for an early view of the interior of Volcano Island.

Rev. Lacanilao baptizes new believers in the Tullahan River, near CRCM. This was a popular place for FEBC local baptisms. The ruins of a bridge, probably destroyed in the World War, can be seen in the background. The place was quite rural at this time; later it would be wholly suburbanized; the river became dangerously polluted.

A brilliant photograph of Max Atienza and Anacleto Lacanilao, the main indigenous leadership of FEBC Philippines in the early years. The photo appears to have been taken in the old administration building. The quality of the photo (Ektachrome) suggests it was taken by Byrd Brunemeier. The slide scanned is the original.

There is no information attached to this transparency, although it appears to be an evangelistic effort. Those we can identify from FEBC are Max and Sara Atienza (second from left) and Proceso Marcelo (far right).

On the transparency mount is found the words, "Mrs. Kin, Cantonese." FEBC began broadcasting to China in the Fall of 1949. Mrs. Kin may have been a local resident of Manila, although most Chinese living in Manila are Amoy speakers.

An interesting view of the DZAS tower construction, apparently taken from the "dogleg" portion of the FEBC property. The "boom" can be clearly seen in operation at the 150-foot level of construction. This part of the FEBC property was utilized for local staff housing.

DZAS tower under construction in 1950. Close examination of this transparency reveals that the construction boom is severely twisted, and a nearby tower girder is bent. On May 9 of this year, at the 75 foot level, the collapsing boom narrowly missed Byrd Brunemier, hitting a plank on which he was standing. Unfortunately, the boom rebounded, delivering a fatal blow to hired rigger Matring de Leon.
