In 1942, the Union Rescue Mission of Los Angeles established a Canteen called "The Victory Service Club," located on S. Main Street. It was here that Robert Bowman assisted in services for the benefit of WW2 off-duty military personnel, and interacted with other Christian leaders, prior to the founding of FEBC. At the time, "Bob" Bowman was a well-known singer on the Haven of Rest radio broadcast. The image is the face of a post card that was made available to soldiers and sailors to write home.

In 1947, FEBC produced the "Call of the Orient" radio broadcast for release within the U.S., to promote its new ministry. The program featured music, which was then offered to the public in the form of 78 rpm records, under the label "Mission Music." This label is unusual in that in presents a Chinese version of an English song.

FEBC President Robert Bowman is interviewed on a local radio station by Paul Hunsberger, a well-loved local radio celebrity at KSNJ AM/FM, Bridgeton/Millville, New Jersey. Hunsberger, who died in 2012 at the age of 93, was the host of a radio program that boasted "the oldest continuous program of its kind." Paul Hunsberger worked for the station for 60 years and was described in the secular media as a "deeply spiritual man." FEBC benefited from many U.S station owners and on air personalities, who helped promote the FEBC ministry.
