Zamboanga Times, September 22, 1992. Muslim political extremists Abu Sayyaf terrorist group attack FEBC station DXAS, Zamboanga (Philippines), killing three persons including Tausug language broadcaster Greg Hapalla and control operator Greg Bacabis. The killings are carried out after phoned threats against DXAS for broadcasting to the Muslim Tausug. The Tausug themselves were not complaining about the broadcasts, in fact were enthusiastic listeners. Some time passed before Abu Sayyaf took credit for the murders.

A view of some of the incredible lahar mudflow that came down off Mt. Pinatubo in the rains of 1994-1995. This once was a major road across the Pampanga River. The normal elevation here is at the river level. In this region near Bacolor and San Fernando, the lahar is 40 feet deep, and covers a vast area.
