Don Bower, missionary engineer, served in Saipan with his wife Rose. Don drowned when a rogue wave swept him off the rocks on the eastern side of the island. Fellow hikers were unable to save him; he apparently struck his head on a rock before falling into the water.

DXAS technician Gregorio Bacabis. Greg along with two others, were murdered in the studio of DXAS in 1992, by Abu Sayyaf terrorists who were attempting to silence broadcasts in the Tausug language. The other two were Rev. Gregorio Hapalla, the Tausug broadcaster, and a visitor making a public service announcement, Ambri Azari.
