Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bowman stand beside their broken down car on the road from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur (then Malaya), with David Huntley. The car is a Baby Fiat 600, owned by FEBA Singapore. A leaking radiator hose resulted in a blown gasket. The trip was punctuated by frequent stops in search of water. At one point a rag near a water tin caught fire, and an alarmed taxi driver chased the car, thinking the tin contained petrol. Note: This grayscale image was made from the original color transparency which had faded to monochrome reds.

David Huntley in the CRCM control room which was in the left wing of the old administration/studio building. The equipment was deemed obsolescent even in 1962. David Huntley notes: "Even the monitor speaker has its own in-built amplifier." The Ampex 351 was considered state-of-the art.

Leon O. Ty was one of the most important figures in FEBC history. An influential Filipino, he helped smooth the way with the Philippine government in 1947 as FEBC applied for a license. He was editor/publisher of the Manila Examiner and was known for his outspoken and insightful editorial commentaries on Philippine life and politics. He was on FEBC-Philippines' first board of directors (see #8), and remained always a faithful friend of FEBC. See also #318, 478, 827.
