Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bowman stand beside their broken down car on the road from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur (then Malaya), with David Huntley. The car is a Baby Fiat 600, owned by FEBA Singapore. A leaking radiator hose resulted in a blown gasket. The trip was punctuated by frequent stops in search of water. At one point a rag near a water tin caught fire, and an alarmed taxi driver chased the car, thinking the tin contained petrol. Note: This grayscale image was made from the original color transparency which had faded to monochrome reds.

Dale and Belvah Golding were appointed as FEBC missionaries in July of 1955, and retired in June of 2003. Their 48 years of service is among the longest of any FEBC missionary or staff.

Dale provides this account of his introduction to FEBC:

I would not have been with FEBC if I had not heard the program "The Call of the Orient." (see set #33) I was a student at Northwestern Bible School in Minneapolis. The student body, of which I was a part, had raised 27,000 dollars to put KTIS on the air. The new president of the school, Dr. Billy Graham, learned that the school had a license, and we only had a few months to act on it or it would lapse. So KTIS went on the air, I believe in 1948. I took a radio class with Dr. Mark Lee, and actually did some broadcasting the rest of my time at NWC. When I graduated in in June 1950, I wrote to FEBC asking what we should do now to become missionaries with FEBC. John Broger wrote back that I should get a degree in Radio, and two or three years practical experience in a radio station. I did those things and applied for missionary service. The rest is history!"
