DZAS 300 foot radio tower shortly after its construction. One way to determine the "age" of the tower is to consider the top of the tower, which originally had only a small pulley tripod. Later, to improve DZAS' coverage, a radiating "hat" was added. Still later, when the DZAS transmitter was moved to Bocaue, the tower supported the FM antenna for DZFE. Finally, when DZFE's antennas were moved to Makati, the tower was utilized for STL link with Bocaue.

Proceso Marcelo was one of the first local staff members, first working as compound guard, then on construction projections, electronic projects, and finally broadcaster. He eventually became one of FEBC's most widely known and respected Christian leaders as a "radio evangelist" in the Philippines.

The historic Pan American Boeing Stratocruiser "Clipper America" taxis to the ramp at Manila International Airport. The photo is from the collection of an FEBC visitor named "Jesse" who toured Asia and who arrived in Manila on this aircraft in about 1951. The Boeing 377 was the first step up from the PanAM "flying boats" that had been traversing the Pacific. FEBC personnel utilized this aircraft, in the mid 1950's as the first break from sea travel. See also #403 and #469.

Travelers arriving on a Pan Am 377 "Stratocruiser" in 1951 (est.) must disembark and walk across the tarmac in the bad weather at Manila International Airport. The photo is taken of the arrival of a visitor to FEBC named "Jesse." It is not known if "Jesse" is any of the passengers walking hastily along in the rain. The flag that waves on the right indicates "G&P Company."

This photo was taken by a person named "Jesse" visiting FEBC in the very early 1950's He was apparently impressed by the flags of the U.S. and Philippines flying side by side at CRCM, Manila. FEBC's initial effort was largely American, even though the intent was from the beginning to make the operations ultimately indigenous. The Philippines was part of the American Commonwealth from 1898 to 1946. FEBC began its work in the Philippines in 1947. In the background is the directional short wave antenna for the regional Philippines.

Hong Kong Island approaching the ferry. The dominant white structure is the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank building, eventually demolished to allow for construction of a new skyscraper. This is one of several high quality 3"x5" black and white prints of Hong Kong, acquired by a man who visited FEBC Philippines in about 1951. The prints are probably commercial, although not so marked. Images 578-582.

A view of Hong Kong harbor from Victoria Peak, in about 1951. In the foreground is Hong Kong Island, with the dominating structure of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank building, and across the harbor, Kowloon. Many FEBC personnel passed through this harbor on ships returning to the United States from Manila. FEBC would establish an office in Kowloon in the 1960's. This is one of several high quality 3"x5" black and white prints of Hong Kong, acquired by a man who visited FEBC Philippines in about 1951. The prints are probably commercial, although not so marked. Images 578-582.
