Richard Rowland monitors a recording on 30" acetate disk. The recordings were used primarily for spot announcements and station breaks. The disks were made of acetate over aluminum. After usage, the acetate was melted off and the metal was used for PM radio chassis. Magnetic tape recording was only in its infancy during this period.

Cry of Balintawak Monument, Balintawak, Manila. This was a familiar landmark to early FEBC missionaries motoring from downtown Manila to CRCM along the northeastern side of the city. The statue honors the cry that is said to have been uttered by Andres Bonafacio, marking the beginning of the Philippine revolution against Spain in 1896. In the 1960's the statue was moved to a location at the University of the Philippines in Quezon City. Much controversy surrounds the accuracy of depictions and facts of this event.

Missionaries who have been evacuated from China arrive in Manila, and are met by FEBC and other Christian agencies. Some will live at FEBC and do broadcasts for China. The SS General W.H. Gordon was a US Navy troop transport ship which was leased to the American President Lines (APL) after World War II. In 1949, the ship helped evacuate foreign missionaries from China as Mao Tse Tung established the PRC and attempted to stamp out religion. The General Gordon is said to be the last foreign ship to leave Shanghai. Official information and a complete history of this ship can be found at the U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command website.
