1949   Richard Rowland monitors a recording on 30" acetate disk. The recordings were used primarily for spot announcements and station breaks. The disks were made of acetate over aluminum. After usage, the acetate was melted off and the metal was used for PM radio chassis. Magnetic tape recording was only in its infancy during this period.
