1960   The Philippine carabao was the main "farm vehicle" until hand-held motor-driven tractors were introduced by the Japanese in the 1970's. Among southeast Asian water buffaloes, the carabao was the largest and sported magnificent horns. In later years, the size of the animals diminished.
