Responses from Vietnamese Listeners

December 2003

Note: "Nguon Song" or "Spring of Life" is the name of Vietnamese broadcast on the FEBC Radio.

Mr. N.H.S., Vinh Long

I received your recent letter with great joy. It seems to me that you do not forget anyone who has written to you, including those who had contacted you just once. I'd love to write you more often but I cannot afford the postage, so I have to accept a one-way communication with you. I began listening to your broadcast in 1997, though not regularly. After my surgery, I found out that I could not go on in my life without listening to your programs. Now, at 7 o'clock every evening I have to go to my other radio to listen to Nguon Song broadcast. I have two radios: one tuned to FEBC, the other to TWR. These radios have been pre-set to these stations' frequencies. When the broadcast time comes, I just have to switch radio and turn on the power, not wasting any time locating the frequency. Although I receive your Christmas greetings every year, I have not replied for more than two years. Postage is still a problem for me. I have neither received any lesson nor material from you.

I used to be a Roman Catholic and I regret so much about it. For over 40 years I have been in darkness, worshiping idols and the devil. I have wasted all of my hard works. When I began to hear different teachings from some Protestant stations, such as KTWR, FEBC and a Seventh Day Adventist broadcast called "Peace and Happiness," I was surprised to hear some different teachings from the Bible, especially from Nguon Song's program. I wondered why all your teachings are contrary to what I have learned in the Catholic Church or Schools? Then I tried to find a Bible to read it myself. I was able to borrow a Bible from a Catholic Church, but it's hard to understand. My son purchased me another Bible, also from the Catholic Church. Not satisfied with that, I went to a Protestant Church and bought a Protestant Bible. It took me three years to read and compare the three Bibles. Not being able to talk, I have much time to be alone and that's why I can read the Bible all day. I believe this is God's plan for me and I'm very thankful for the privilege I have. Through reading the Bible, I discovered that I have been worshiping idols and have committed the sin of idolatry, a sin that is strongly condemned through out the Bible. I then took the altar in my home down, destroyed all the images. I also set aside a room and stayed in that room for a period of time, to pray and repent of my sins.

From that time until today, God has touched my life and poured His power on me, sometimes to the point that I was so surprised and overwhelmed. I can sense God's presence in my life, He is helping me so that I will not turn back to the sinful life I had before. Now I am living just like Elijah, the prophet in the Old Testament. Though I am not able to work to support myself but "the jar of flour is not used up and the jug of oil does not run dry." I am rejoicing in the Lord for He has remembered me in my handicapped situation, He has transformed me and made a blessed child of His. I listen to your broadcast twice a day. The signal is very good.

I used to record your programs to cassette tapes, and then copy them down into notebooks. I have about 20 tapes and a dozen notebooks full of your lessons and sermons. However, I have stopped doing that because I could not afford to buy any more tapes and do not have time to read what I have copied down. I was so happy to receive your letter and then came to tears when seeing the stamps you have enclosed for me to write back. I will use these stamps to mail this letter to you. I would like to send my warm greetings to every one on Nguon Song staff. May God bless you all abundantly.

Mr. V.D.T., Ho Chi Minh City

I really don't know how to express myself in writing so you would understand my warm feelings toward your ministry. This is my first letter to you. I want you to know that every evening, from 7 to 9pm I sit by my small radio waiting to listen to the Voice of Love, Truth and Hope. It is the voice that you send out to every one living on this land, and everyone is ready to hear it. I have been listening to your broadcasts for many years. I also wrote to you once, but did not receive a reply, so I did not dare to write anymore. Hopefully this letter will not be lost. Today I would also like to sign up for the Bible Study course that you are offering. Please also send Bible Study materials, a hymnal and songbooks. I would also like some study guides on the book of Ecclesiastes, to go with the program I'm currently listening to about the rich man, as well as all the other lessons that you have broadcast. I don't know which sermons to ask for to satisfy my longings. Thank you.

Mr. T.V.C., Tien Giang

Thank you for your care for a listener like me. I have not been in touch with you for a long time because I haven't been able to find your frequency on the radio. I just started listening again in July or August of 2003. I found your signal by accident. I can now hear your voices fairly clearly, but it is still very difficult to find your frequency. Perhaps it is because my radio is old... I've had it for 14 years. Thank you again for the Christmas cards I receive from you every year, as well as the stamps you enclose. My financial situation has improved, so paying for postage is no longer an issue. Please save those stamps for others who may really need them. I would like to keep these last stamps you sent to me because they are so beautiful. I listen to your program for free, and yet you pay postage to hear from us. That's too much. I imagine your budget is limited. Your daily programs are very good. I listen from 8 to 9, which works well for me. I would also really like it if your program was repeated from 10:30 to 11:30. That would be great. Your sermons enrich my life. That is a great benefit for me. By the way, can you please send me the Marriage and Family lessons that are broadcast on Wednesdays? I would especially like as many of these lessons broadcast before July 2003 as possible. Peace to you.

Mr. T.T.D., Quang Nam

First of all, I would like to thank God because He has used His servants on Nguon Song staff, to preach His Word and bring comfort, encouragement and teaching to His children everywhere. May God give you new strength so that His Word can continue to be proclaimed, and that many people will know of His love for them. In the past years, even though I didn't write to you, I've been very touched because even in your busyness, you thought of my family and me, sent us Bible lessons and a Christmas card. I feel really bad that you have to send me stamps so that I would write to you. Thank you once again. May God bless your ministry and all of your families.

Miss P.T.H.N., Ha Noi

Dear friends in Christ, I am a regular listener of Nguon Song. Today, I am very glad to be able to write to you. Ever since I began to listen to Nguon Song, I have learned more about Jesus and His teachings. Although I have been a believer for a long time, I haven't understood very much about the Bible. But ever since I started listening to your program, I have really learned a lot. May you have good health, may God be with every staff member, and may you continue to preach God's Word so that others may know Him and experience His love. I would like to ask for some Christmas songs and tapes to teach to the choir at church. Thank you very much.

Miss P.T.N.B., Long An

I'm writing this to you with God's guidance. According to the world, I am a mature adult, but by God's standard, I am only a child learning to walk. I am 25 years old and have been a Christian for over 10 years. But I feel like I am still a child in my walk with God. Because of school, I live far away from church and my family. I don't study the Bible or pray very much. My life is often just like that of a non-believer's. Even so, I do not forget God's commandments, but that doesn't mean I don't often do the wrong thing. When I graduated, I started a teaching job far away from home. I went home and to church even less often than I did before. Thank God I recently transferred to a different school closer to home, and can go to church and Bible study more often.

Mrs. N.T.D., Ho Chi Minh City

I have some good news for you: the Nguon Song CD's have all been sold. A lot of people are saying good things about the lyrics of the songs, especially the older, spiritually mature people. The "Systematic Theology" program on the radio is completed. Do you have the written lessons to send to the listeners? I have heard in your programs the study angels and man. If possible, please send me lessons from "Basic Christianity" and "In His Steps" programs. Thank you.

Mr. N.N.H., Da Nang

My family and I were very touched to receive your letter. We went to church to attend a weekly evangelistic meeting, and received your letter. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I am really sorry that we have not been able to listen to your broadcast very often in the evenings, although we did listen to some of the morning broadcasts. When we went to my 72-year-old mother's house, she's a believer; she would regularly listen to your station both in the morning and evening. One of my friends let me know that your frequency has been very strong for the past 5-6 months, especially in the morning. However, just in my area, there is still a lot of interference, making it very difficult to hear. Since the beginning of the year, we have not received any letters or materials from you. We were looking forward to receive them, but perhaps they have been lost. Please pray for my family, as we work to make ends meet. Thank you.

Miss H.Y., Vietnam

Today I am very glad to receive your letter. I haven't written to you in awhile, not since Christmas 2002. I'm not sure if you received the letter I sent that year or not. As for me, I have received the materials and Christmas cards you send every year. Thank God, I can listen to your broadcast a lot more easily since you changed the schedules. I learn more about God and am nurtured spiritually every day through your programs. Even though I am really busy, I don't forget to set aside time to listen to your broadcast and pray for your ministry.
