Responses from Vietnamese Listeners

December 2000

Note: "Nguon Song" or "Spring of Life" is the name of Vietnamese broadcast on the FEBC Radio.

1. Mr. T.Q.D., Quang Nam

I am a teenager and member of a church in the countryside. Even though I live far away, and the signal is often unclear, I still get to hear Nguon Song daily... the voice of love, truth and hope. I usually write down what I hear as I am listening to the programs so that I can have some lessons to read whenever I need them. This has helped me a lot in my Bible studies. It has also been through Nguon Song that I have discovered many new and wonderful things about Protestant teachings. God's Word is a mirror for me to use to reflect and examine myself. It is also a compass, showing me the way to go along life's road full of temptation and trials. I fully believe that with God's strength, I can overcome it all. Everyday I want to live a life more pleasing to God, more worthy of being called a follower of Christ-the salt of the earth and light of the world, having a good impact on the people around me. The program I like the most is "Words of Hope." This program has great spiritual value. Hope is something that every Christian must have in order to have a joyful life. I recently heard that you were going to send program guides to whoever requested them. I would like to have one, so that I can more easily follow your broadcasts. I also need two 2001 pocket calendars. Thank you very much. God bless you.

2. Mr. N.T., Ho Chi Minh City

I am a college student in Ho Chi Minh City. I take time every night to listen to your sermons and the Bible reading program. However, these past few months I haven't been able to listen to them because you've changed the frequency. I asked the people in my church about it, but nobody knew anything. Fortunately, I read my diary and found your address there. I am writing this letter right away to ask for a program guide, so I can continue to listen to God's Word. I really feel like I'm missing something very important, because I can't hear your voices on the radio. I have prayed, and God led me to find your address so that I can write to you. With your consideration, I will surely be able to continue listening to God's Word. Again, please let me know as soon as possible what frequency you have switched to. My phone number is... If possible, please call me and let me know immediately. If not, I will wait for your letter through the post office. Thank you.

3. Miss N.T.X.M., Ho Chi Minh City

I would like to start by expressing my sincere thanks to the Nguon Song staff. May God protect and bless you. It's a blessing to be able to write to you. I wanted to send an e-mail so it would be faster, but perhaps I can express my feelings better by handwriting a letter. Perhaps you don't know this, but Nguon Song has a very special place in my heart. Nguon Song comes to in every one of my situations, meeting every one of my needs. There have been a lot of times when I've felt like God was very far away, and no one was left around me. In these very times, God used Nguon Song to encourage me, dry my tears, and lead me on His path. By the way, thank you very much for the gift you sent me at the end of last year. It was a meaningful gift, and it came exactly on my birthday. During that time, I was going through some difficult time, and your gift came as a delightful surprise. At first I didn't know whom it was from, because it didn't say. When I figured out it was from Nguon Song, I was very moved, and all I could do was bow my head and thank God.

I wish I could be used by God like you are. May God bless you abundantly and one day soon, may Nguon Song be broadcast directly from Vietnam.

4. Mr. L.T.L., Can Tho

I regularly listen to Nguon Song everyday at 7 pm. I have heard many wonderful and meaningful sermons. Your voices are very sweet, warm and loving. I'd like to request one of your 2001 calendars and the "Peace with God" sermons. I don't remember the date and time of their broadcast. I would also like to request the series "The Battle Against Sin." Thank you very much. God bless you.

5. Mr. D.N., Ho Chi Minh City

I was moved and happy to receive the surprise of the 2001 calendar you sent through the post office. I had wanted a new calendar. One day I heard you talk about sending calendars to the listeners. I thought I probably wouldn't get one because I don't write to you very often. I didn't think anyone would remember me. And yet, today I received a calendar, just as I hoped! I would like to express my deepest thanks to you and to God. Recently, when you switched frequencies, it has been impossible for me to pick it up. My radio is locally made, and has only two bands. I am very sad. I have been very ill. Please pray for me. Once in awhile, I get to listen to one of your sermons and I am moved to tears, thanking God for allowing me to hear those encouraging words. If I didn't have God, the church and Nguon Song, I don't know how hopeless and desperate I would be. A lot of times I feel so lonely. I cry every time I hear the song "Bridge over Troubled Waters." I would like to stop here for now. I hope to hear from you soon.

6. Mr. N.V.L., Hai Duong

First of all, I pray that God will bless you and fill you with the Holy Spirit. May God provide for the financial needs of your ministries. I'd like to let you know that I have received your 2001 calendar through a Christian sister. On November 26, 2000 at 5 AM, I was looking for your frequency and didn't find it until halfway through the broadcast. I was able to listen to the second part of the program. The first part was covered by another station. I pray that God will help so that something can be done to improve the strength of the frequency. The broadcasts on the 41-meter band from 7 - 8 am and the 25-meter band from 8 - 9:30 pm, are stronger. Please keep it the way it is. If there are areas in which the listeners can't hear clearly, it's either because of the World Wide Web, or their radios are not good enough. I've learned a lot through the program "Faith Illustrated" on Saturdays. You are really talented, God has really blessed you. The English language program is very helpful for those who want to learn English. It would be even better if you had a workbook to go along with the lessons. Nguon Song is my teacher and shepherd who cares for my spiritual life. Nguon Song is God's tool to bring His Word to His people. I really have a need to listen to Nguon Song regularly. Sometimes I get very busy, but still always take time to worship God and listen to your teaching. God's Word is food for my soul. Without the vitamin of God's Word, I would be poor and lonely.

7. A group of Catholic nuns from Buon Ma Thuot

I am writing to you on behalf of all the nuns in the Tho Thanh parish in Buon-ma-thuot. I am a Catholic but my spiritual life has been cold, dry and sinful before the Lord. I seldom go to church and never participate in any religious activities or rallies. When I go to church on Sundays, the teaching of the priests did not bring any change in my life. Then one day, I accidentally heard your radio program. It was very good. Your soft voices and your beautiful music have captured my attention. I continued to listen the following evenings, at first just for fun. I love your programs so much that during the day time I would try to recall what I have listened the night before and meditate on it. I believe it was the Holy Spirit who guided me and encouraged me to do so. Eventually I felt some changes in my life. I realized that I have heard God's Word and known more about Him, His Son and His love for me. I become aware of my sins, so I prayed to confess my sins to God, and began to go to church with more enthusiasm. I thank God that He has used Nguon Song Radio to change me and sanctify my life. Through it I have been born again. May God bless you all abundantly. I have introduced your broadcast to many people, so they can hear it too. I would like to request a copy of Nguon Song's songbook, so that we can use it during our church's worship services or our masses. Thank you.

8. Mr. V.A.H., Ha Noi

I have just become a regular listener of your station recently. I said "recently" because last year I did listen to your programs but could not pick up the signal on a daily basis and did not know exactly what your frequencies were. Now I can pick up your signal more easily and regularly. The voices of your announcers are very attractive. I am not a Christian but would like to know more about God and Christianity, that's why I'm trying to listen to all of your programs. I think what you're teaching is very beneficial to me. Before I did not know much about God but I think now I have some knowledge about Him. Before I thought differently about God but now that thinking has been changed. I would like to request one 2001 calendar. Thank you for your consideration.

9. Miss L.T.H., Ho Chi Minh City

I thank God and Nguon Song Radio Station, because even though with only 60 minutes a day, I have found true happiness for my soul from your programs. It's truly God's free gift to me. I am a believer, a listener of your station and my wish is that God would allow me to receive a copy of Nguon Song's 2001 calendar.
