Responses from Vietnamese Listeners

November 2003

Note: "Nguon Song" or "Spring of Life" is the name of Vietnamese broadcast on the FEBC Radio.

Mrs. H.T.T.M., Ben Tre

I received your letter on 09-08-2003. Greetings! May God give you strength daily to serve Him. Please let me know the names of each person on your staff. I thank God and the Nguon Song staff for helping me to understand God better and love Him faithfully each day. Thank God, in His providence, my family is healthy and happy. I am keeping in fellowship with the women in the church, teaching Sunday School and leading worship. I always want to serve Christ, but being married to a non-Christian makes that very difficult. In the morning I study the Bible, and at night I pray all alone. We do not have a family devotion time. Over the past several years, I have always received your letters, but never any Bible lessons or other materials.

The morning signal cannot be heard, because of interference from other stations. The evening signal is better, but it's only clear some of the time. Perhaps it would be better with a better radio. So, I only listen to the evening program. I have also asked a lot of other people, and they seem to agree that the evening signal is better, but there is still interference. I remember the signal used to be really clear, but now it is really hard to find.

When I listen to your program, I am comforted and feel less lonely, my heart is encouraged. I know the way a Christian should live as a wife and mother. With God's Word as my guide, my life has changed for the better, and it is all because of your teachings. I am always grateful to God and to you for helping me so much in my walk with Christ. My church started a women's group in March, but we are lacking material for women's ministries. Can you please send me some materials and Bible studies for women, so that I can learn more and share them with the group? Thank you.

Mrs. H.T.N.D., Long An

Today I have the opportunity to write to you to thank you for teaching me and encouraging me daily through your broadcast. I really don't have the words to express to you the depth of my gratitude, because God's love for me is so great, comforting me through your teaching. It's truly a blessing that I am able to listen to God's precious Word, and to live accordingly. My soul is satisfied everyday because of His Word. If all of the people in Vietnam could hear God's Word, what a blessing that would be!

As for me, I know that my faith is growing because I am able to hear God's Word. On the days that I am not able to listen to your broadcast I always feel like I am missing something, and feel sadness in my heart. I would like to request the lesson "Family and Church" from the Words of Hope program, broadcast on September 9, 2003 at 8:30 PM. Please also send me a copy of the program guide; because a lot of people do not know what time your program is broadcast.

Mrs. D.M.D., Da Nang

It has been two years since I last wrote to you. And yet, every Christmas I still received a card from you. I am very touched to know that you remember each individual listener. However, I have never received a single sermon or book from you, I thought I should let you know. Ever since you changed the broadcast time from 5:45 AM to 5:30 AM, it has been more convenient for me to listen. The signal is clearer and there is no interference from other stations. The thing I like the most is that the morning program is repeated in the evening on the same frequency. That way, whatever I miss in my notes in the morning, I am able to fill in at night. In one day, one program is broadcast 3 times, so it is easy to follow and take notes for my own study.

Recently, the Tuesday broadcast has a new program called "A Discussion on Marriage." It is very beneficial for us middle-aged adults. Last week, the things I learned from Nguon Song through your Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday programs, I have shared with the others in my group at church, and they really enjoyed it. Our church is a small church without a pastor. I have young children, so I am not able to attend all the church activities. Fortunately, Nguon Song meets many of my needs. I can listen while am taking care of my children, or putting them to bed, and even when I am feeding them I can listen to your broadcast. Because your programs are broadcast 3 times a day, I can always catch up on what I missed in previous broadcasts. My pen and notebook are always ready on my table. Whenever I hear something meaningful, I write it down. Perhaps you don't really need to send me materials, because I probably won't receive them anyway. All of the mail you send me has already been opened by the time I receive it. Please pray for me that I can continue to listen to Nguon Song every day. And please also pray that our church will soon have a pastor.

Miss D.T.K.L., Ben Tre

Today, I am writing this letter to you on my sister's behalf. My sister has not been able to write to you recently because she has been quite ill. Every day, we listen to Nguon Song together. Your signal has been good, it's very clear with no interference from other stations. May God bless the entire Nguon Song staff with good health and strength to carry on the task that He has given you.

Mrs. C.T.N., Can Tho

First of all, my apologies for not writing to thank you for the card and calendar I received at the beginning of the year. I'm really sorry about that. There was a period of time when I couldn't listen to Nguon Song, because I'd turn the radio on and hear only interference. I couldn't find your signal. When I received your letter, I tuned in to your signal, and could hear it much clearer. However, the signal for the Catholic broadcast is much stronger. I really appreciate your care and consideration for me. I am over 60 years old this year, and my doctor told me I need to go walking in the morning for exercise. So I have only been able to listen to your broadcast at night. I have made copies of your program guide to give to people at my church. May God bless you all.

Mrs. B.T.T.T., Ho Chi Minh City

Thank God that I received your letter. Every time I receive a letter from you, I feel happy and joyful. I am moved to tears to hold your letter in my hand, because I feel like I am holding God's love for me, sent through you. Encouragement and comfort fill my heart. I am 52 years old this year. I don't have any friends and my mother passed away 2 years ago. My daughter has also gone to be with the Lord. I am in a lot of pain, but am glad to know that my child is being held in God's arms. Thank you for asking about my daughter. Even though I have been through so many trials, I still love God and am faithful in serving Him.

Within 3 years, my daughter and then my mother passed away. My house was also burned down along with my two motor scooters. And then a third one was stolen. But by faith, I still pray to God and thank Him. My family now has a new home, and 3 motor scooters that my children and I use to go to work. My children and I are Christians. My children teach Sunday School and help with the youth group. My husband is a believer, but is young in his faith. In 1982, I went to the New Economic Zone to live on a farm. At that time, I listened to your broadcast, and my 6 children and I became Christians. Our spiritual lives have been growing, and that is because of the ministry of Nguon Song. We are very quiet and attentive during every broadcast, listening carefully to your teaching. Every minute, every word is sweet and refreshing to our souls.

It has to be said that Nguon Song is a good friend and precious companion to me in this life. I am always so disappointed when I can't listen to your broadcast. My husband destroyed my good radio, and now I have a smaller one in its place. It stresses me out to tune it, because I'm afraid I'm going to lose the signal or miss a word. Sometimes I hold my radio tightly, praying to God that I would not miss a single word. Since May, I have only been able to listen to the evening broadcast from 8 to 9:30 PM. It's so sad that I work all day long, and come home to wait for your broadcast time, only to fall asleep in the middle of the broadcast because I am so exhausted. But thank God, since September I have been able to listen in the morning, and it is so clear! I listen while I exercise. God's Word gives me strength for the day. I sincerely thank you for allowing me to hear the loving voice of God.

God has given you a very good signal for Vietnam. Hopefully many people are able to listen to Nguon Song. A lot of people at my church long to listen to Nguon Song, but live in such populated areas that the signal cannot go through. They are envious to know I can listen to it often. May your ministry be even more effective in proclaiming God's Word to our people.

Mrs. P.C., Binh Thuan

May God bless you with good health and may all go well with you in your ministry. I received your letter a long time ago, but did not respond. Please forgive me, because everything here is so difficult. Things here are spiritually poor and materially lacking. Around March 2003, I received your letter, and then I received 3 lessons on "Peace with God." Thank you. I heard you broadcast a series on Systematic Theology. I would like a copy of these lessons. Please send me a copy if possible. I thank you very much. In my area, we cannot hear your early broadcast; we can only listen to your late one from 8 to 9:30. However, I am an old lady who can't stay up late. If I had these lessons, I would read one lesson each night. That would work for me. Thank you for your help.

Mr. L.T.H., Ben Tre

I was so happy to receive your letter. Thank God, my family and I are doing well. There is some good news that is our church has been given permission to meet twice a week: on Thursday afternoon for Bible study and Sunday evening for worship. There are about 40 people meeting every week. We are in need of Bible lessons and/or any Christian material for the nurture of our faith. If it's possible, please send us some of the materials you have broadcast over the radio, such as: Basic Christianity, Systematic Theology, Discussion on Family matters, Marriage & the Family, and Christmas songs. Thank you and God bless.

Miss L.T.H.S., Soc Trang

I have received for a while back your letter and some Bible lessons; however, because I am too busy with school, I did not write to you. Please forgive me. In the booklet you sent me, entitled "Returning to Dust" there is a prayer at the end of the book, and I have prayed that prayer, please pray for me also, so I will be faithful to God always. Please continue to send me the rest of the series "Faith and Marriage" and "Conflicts in Marriage." Besides, I would also like to request materials from the following programs: "Words of Hope," "To Live by God's Word," and "Systematic Theology." Your signals in my area these days are very good, both in the mornings and evenings.
