Responses from Vietnamese Listeners

October 1999

Note: "Nguon Song" or "Spring of Life" is the name of Vietnamese broadcast on the FEBC Radio.

1. Mr. D.V., Dong Nai

I was very pleased to hear you answer my letter on the Listener's Mailbag program. Praise God for allowing my letter to arrive safely. I am embarrassed because I mentioned too many needs to you in my last letter. I didn't know if I should request so many things in my letters, but your sermons and Bible lessons give me a lot of encouragement. So, if I have requested too much, please forgive me and pray for me.

On Sunday, March 28th, when, in your broadcast, you mentioned my name, I felt as if my name was written in heaven. Please pray for our church, that God would move within us and that the leaders in our church would continue to have the strength to serve God. I would like to request copies of your sermons and Bible lessons; these are like presents to us. The sermons we requested before are all out on loan; I hope you understand. Now I would like to request the following: 1) Satan in Today's World, 2) Sermon on the Mount, 3) Why God is Silent, 4) Kingdom Strategy, and 5) Points to Ponder. I will be very pleased to receive these materials because I will be able to share them with my friends. May God bless you and your ministry.

2. Mr. N.T.N., Ho Chi Minh City

I'm in my last year of college. When I was still in high school, I did not know Christ. When I entered college, I began to learn more about God through my friends and teachers. I would also go to church occasionally. About a year ago, when I was looking for the BBC, I tuned into your station. Most of your programs are very good, and I never miss listening to any of them. The only times when I am unable to tune in are during bad weather or when I have to go to class. My favorite program is the Bible reading and praise music hour. If it is possible, I would appreciate it if you could recommend and send me any books you think I need (e.g. Bible, "Peace with God," etc.). Right now I don't even have one Christian book to read. I have been to many bookstores, but they do not have anything. Besides bookstores, I don't know where else to look for these books. I was motivated to write after listening to you read many people's letters during your listeners' mailbag program on Sundays. Please send me the booklet "Points to Ponder." I'm not sure if you're able to send cassette tapes. If so, please send me a selection of hymns and praise songs.

3. Mr. T.V.T., Kien Giang

I have been a Nguon Song listener for the past three years. Today I could no longer remain silent to your invitation to write the broadcast. In 1990, I escaped to Indonesia; and in 1993, I received Christ through the witness of a friend and was baptized. Before that, I was a Buddhist; that is my family religion. I am unlucky refugee; I was sent back to Vietnam in 1996. I was very sad because I was no longer able to worship God with other Christians. I miss all the worship services and the Bible studies. When I first came back to Vietnam, I was lonely and discouraged. After awhile I remembered I had a radio; so I tried to tune into a foreign station. What a blessing to accidentally tune into your station one evening. From that time on, I felt like I found the joy that I had lost before. A while later, I was able to find a church, over 40 km from my home! Because the church is pretty far, I am only able to attend the church once every several months. My family and I are farmers so we work hard all day long out in the field. Sometimes we work from early in the morning until late at night. The only time I miss your program is when I am tired and fall asleep. My spiritual growth depends on your broadcast and your voice is God's teaching to me. I hope you will send a reply to my letter.

4. Mr. N.H.A., Binh Thuan

Near the end of July 1999, a big flood suddenly covered my hometown. It caused much damage and loss to the people in the whole area. This is the biggest flood in the history of Binh Thuan. Many people also lost their lives to the flood. Your prayers and any help you can give us during this time of need will be much appreciated. When your listeners go through a disaster like this, do you have a plan to assist them? On July 23rd, I received your letter and I hope you will send me the pen you promised. May God bless you and your ministry as you serve your fellow-countrymen.

5. Mr. T.V.V., Long An

I got your station's address through a friend, and with this letter, I would like to request the following materials:

. An English Bible
. Some Bible study guides

I already have a Vietnamese Bible. Thank you for your help.
