Responses from Vietnamese Listeners

October 2004

From Mr. C.V.K., Khanh Hoa

I used to listen to the Nguon Song broadcast in the Roglai dialect twice every week. I would like for you to broadcast these programs more often, 3 or 4 times a week. I am very happy and grateful to God that He is using you to write programs and broadcast them in the Roglai dialect. I am writing today to request a Bible and hymnal in the Roglai dialect, because the church is growing here. Every month, there are 3 or 4 new believers committing their lives to God. Please pray for the Roglai people, that their faith will be strong, and that there will be many people committing their lives to ministry to help these new believers.

Please remember my requests, and send the materials to the following address. Please pray that we will not fall into Satan’s chains. Thank you.

From Mr. P.N.T., Quang Ngai

Dear Nguon Song staff, it has been a very long time since I have written to you. There is a pastor here teaching us today, so I am writing this letter to send with him. All these years when I wrote to you, I received only one letter in response. I also received the booklet “Faith Illustrated” and one book about “Communication in Marriage.” I was really touched and encouraged when I received these materials, so I replied to you right away so that you would know how grateful I was. But I never heard from you again. I hope that you will receive this letter, and that when you receive it, you will remember to write back.

I always remember to pray for you. May God give you good health, and grace upon grace so that you can proclaim the Gospel to the lost people in our beloved country so that they will come to believe in Him. And to also nurture the believers so that their spiritual lives will grow. I believe Nguon Song is a very special program that God has given to us. When I hold my radio in my hand, I hear your valuable and meaningful sermons and know that God has blessed you. Your voices are warm and familiar.

In the past, the Life of Christ program gave me a radio, so I listen to you regularly. I don’t know how other people feel, but for me, every program in your broadcast is wonderful. But I do have one small suggestion. To follow Christ and to serve Him, some people are blessed, but there are many who suffer, spiritually as well as physically. If you have sermons about suffering for the sake of the Gospel, it would be very encouraging for many of the ministers here. I am one of them. Maybe I will let you know my family’s difficult circumstances in my next letter.

I recently received a radio that Nguon Song sent to me. I thank God and I thank you. When I listen to Nguon Song, I learn so much. I grow spiritually and I am passionate to live for the Lord. I have also introduced several people to listen to your program, and I remind them to pray for you. May God give you the power to live holy lives for Him, and serve Him even more effectively.

From Mr. P.V.N.

I wrote to you long ago to request some sermons, but I haven’t received anything yet, not even a reply from you. Lost letters here are as common as a daily meal. I received a Christmas card, but haven’t received anything else since December 2003.

I thought it odd that I received a card without any writing in it, or any return address on the envelope. When you receive this letter, please send me a copy of the program broadcast on the evening of June 15, 2004, called “Life Responsibilities.” Thank you very much.

From Mrs. N.T.N.H., Tien Giang

It has been a long time since I wrote to you, and I did not receive the materials from the Family program that I requested, neither did I receive any words of encouragement from people living in a peaceful and plentiful land. Perhaps it is because my letter was dry and full of complaints, which goes against Nguon Song’s expectations of someone who lives for God. Actually, what I want most from you when I write, are encouragement and sincere admonishments from the Word of God. I live in a place where life is full of change.

I also want your sympathy for a believer who struggles to completely surrender her life to God. Even though I go to church every week, if I don’t hear from you, I feel like I am missing personal care and connection. I am so sad, and I wonder what I’ve done to prevent God’s blessing in my communications with you.

My wish is to be able to hear God’s Word while lying warm in my bed, even though my health is not good, and to be able to keep in touch with you. That is my one big comfort.

From Miss L.T.H.

I thank God that I received your letter, and the booklet “Faith Illustrated, #3.” Thank you very much. When you get a chance, can you send me a copy of “Pilgrim’s Progress?” I have been listening to Nguon Song for 4 years, which is not a long time, considering how long I’ve been a Christian. I have learned a lot, and have been so enlightened by the Holy Spirit through your programs.

From Mr. M.S. (additional letter from Mr. K.B., concerning same)

Thank you for helping our people by broadcasting your programs in our Roglai dialect. Please help us by broadcasting these programs 3 times a week, because right now there are many people here who are superstitious and who worship idols. Your programs will help our people change their beliefs and change their lives.

Recently, some non-Christians here heard the broadcast in the Roglai dialect, and they said, “This must be a true religion, because it is broadcast over the radio.” And therefore, many people have come to faith in God. Since Nguon Song started the new programs for the Roglai people broadcast twice a week, there have been great results for the church here. I thank you very much for thinking of us, and I hope that this program will be broadcast 3 times a week.

From Mr. D.V.A., Kien Giang

May God give you good health so that you may do His work well. I listen to your sermons every night. They are very good. But why are the evening broadcasts so short? You say that it is from 8 to 9:30, but they are over by 8:30. They end an hour too early! We really like to listen to Nguon Song. I would like a copy of the book of Genesis so that I can read it every day. Thank you very much.

From Mrs. N.T.T.H.

I received your letter on June 17, 2004. My family and I are really grateful to you for praying for my family and my son with his minor surgery. He can talk well now, and is eating and drinking like he used to. Every night, our family gathers around the radio to tune in to your broadcast. We hate to miss a single broadcast. Sometimes, before the broadcast time, or even in the middle of the broadcast, it begins to rain and we worry that we are going to lose the signal. However, if we look up and don’t see lightning or don’t hear thunder, we continue to listen until the end, and we wait for the benediction from the pastor before we turn off the radio.

Ever since we started listening to Nguon Song, our family has been so blessed. Every night, during family devotions, my husband prays to thank God for using Nguon Song to nurture us over the past few years. We are very grateful for you. May God bless you always.

From Miss L.C.H., via e-mail

It has been a really long time since I’ve written to you, even though I receive a Christmas card from you every year. I am truly sorry that I always receive, but have not responded with a single letter. Now I can listen to your broadcast on the website, which is very convenient for me. And I can also stay in touch more regularly. I often think of Nguon Song staff in my morning and evening prayers. I have also introduced your program to several other people so that they can hear God’s Word too.

I am very grateful to you for remembering me over the years. May God bless you, and I will write to you more often
