September 2001
Note: "Nguon Song" or "Spring of Life" is the name of Vietnamese broadcast on the FEBC Radio.
1. From Mrs. N.T.N.H., Tien Giang
Hopefully my letter has reached Nguon Song, and I have received your reply. For over a month now, the Nguon Song signal has been the same: there are days when I can hear the beginning of the broadcast, and other days when I can only hear the end. I have not been able to hear the entire broadcast as I have in past years. Last Sunday, I was listening to Listener’s Mailbag and was very glad to hear my name. It would have been too bad if I had missed it – I would have been very disappointed. I like that program announcer’s voice. Even though the broadcast can only be heard sporadically, I still enjoy listening. I can honestly say that even if the same programs are broadcast and re-broadcast, I would never get tired of them. I try my best to live according to God’s Word, and live a simple life without longing for fame and wealth, love my neighbor as myself, and keep the faith. Because of that, I long to have God in my life. I have been a Buddhist since childhood, but now I would like to know about God. Please help me. Tell me what it is Jesus did to be chosen as the one to die on the cross for the sins of the world. What did Jesus do besides perform miracles and heal lepers, blind men, deaf people, etc.? Why do I have to fear and love the Lord? If I love God, what do I need to do? If God is good, why must we fear Him? God doesn’t hate me that I should fear His punishment, right? Can you help me find a church to worship at? Please show me which church I should attend. Please pray that God will bless me and allow me to hear Nguon Song’s broadcast clearly. Thank you.
2. From Ms. T.T.T.H., Dong Thap
Please send me the booklet, “The Way of Salvation.” Is there anything new in your program these days? Please send me a new program guide. When I had a radio, I listened to your broadcast often. But ever since I lost my radio, I seldom listen. I have to go to a neighbor’s house to listen. If my neighbor is in a good mood, then I get to listen, but if he’s not then I don’t. I am very sad. I feel sorry for myself, so I am going to try to work hard to earn money to buy a radio.
3. From Mr. N.Q.T., Kien Giang
I just received the Marriage Preparation lesson, Volume 2. Thank you very much for your care and consideration. The booklet is small and handy, but its contents are valuable. It gives guidance for family living, and is based on the biblical principles. I listen to your broadcast often, but not regularly, because I am very busy with work. Please continue to send me these lessons, so that I can learn more about it. Thank you. May God bless you.
4. From Mrs. N.T.M.D., Can Tho
I am very glad that after a long time, I have this opportunity to write to you. I am really sorry that I have not been consistent in my correspondence with you, and I have not been listening to your broadcast regularly. This is because it has been very difficult to find your signal, and I am not sure about your broadcast times. Last week, when our adult group met, one of my friends asked if I listen to Nguon Song very often. And she gave me your program guide. She also gave me 3 stamps, and asked me to write to you, and to let you know that she received the materials that you sent to her. Today, I am even happier, because as I was writing to you, the mailman came and brought me your letter! I was really surprised and touched that you have remembered me, even though it’s been 3 years since I’ve written to you. The scriptures that you quoted in your letter were very encouraging to me. Thank God, because He knows my needs so well. I received neither of the 2 Bibles that you sent to me. I only received the year 2000 calendar. Thank God, because His Word always comforts me and encourages me very much. I will try to listen to your broadcasts more regularly. I have received the program and stamps that you sent to me. Thank you very much. May God give you a lot of strength in your ministry.
5. From Mrs. N.T.N., Ca Mau
Please send me a program guide, so that I can listen to the sermons at night. And please also send me lessons and books about studying the Bible. Right now, I have a Bible with both the Old and New Testaments, and a hymnal, but there have been a lot of times when I have listened to sermons or songs, but have been unable to find them in the books I have. I am thinking that there is probably another hymnal. If there is, please send me that one, so I can learn more about God.
6. From Mr. T.V.B., Vung Tau
I am very glad to be able to write to you today. A fellow Christian in the church told me about Nguon Song. I listened and was very glad. I have found that the things you teach are very beneficial for Christians. I am going to pray for you everyday, that your ministry will grow and become even more fruitful. Please send me a program guide, and the lessons broadcast on 8-24-01, entitled “Suicide.” And I also have one more wish: I would really like a Bible dictionary, and a Living Bible. Could you please send me one of those two books?
7. From Mr. N.N.D., Quang Nam
I was very moved to receive your letter after 4 years of silence. To be honest, in the past few years I have not listened to Nguon Song very regularly. One of the reasons is that there is a lot of interference from other stations. When I tune in, the signal is interrupted and comes in off and on. Moreover, when I moved to a new house, I cannot receive the signal at all during the day. I can only tune in at night, and at night it is hard to follow the whole program closely. I regularly pray for you, that you will have a stronger transmitter, so that you won’t get interference from other stations. I am currently leading the youth in my church. A few years ago, you sent me the lesson, “Understanding Your Teenagers.” If you have any other similar materials, please send them to me. My sincere thanks.
8. From Mr. N.T.C., Soc Trang
First of all, may God give the Nguon Song staff wings as eagles, so that you may run and not grow weary... Thank you very much, because I have received the book “Path to Victory” in 1996. Because of a change in my circumstances, I no longer have a radio with which to listen to Nguon Song. Please send me a songbook that has the songs you play during your broadcast. Thank you.
9. From Mr. D.Q.V., Long An
I have received your letter, and am very moved by your love and care toward me, one of your many listeners. In the past, I have written to you several times, but perhaps my letters were lost. I only received the year 2000 calendar, and the program guide. I have copied the program guide and distributed it to many other Christians, so that they can listen too. As for the lessons, songbook, and other materials, I did not receive any of them. Concerning your signal: on the plains and in the highlands, the signal is strong at night. In the morning, the signal can sometimes be heard on the plains and sometimes not, but not at all in the highlands. The tribal people (in the highlands) really enjoy listening to your program. May God give you good health, gifts and abilities as you serve God and our people.
10. From Mr. C.K.S., Cambodia
Even though I have been too busy to write to you, I still remember you fondly. And I listen to your broadcast nonstop. I was very touched to receive your 2 letters. A thousand thanks to you. Please send us the following: Lessons from the Women’s Program, lessons about cults and other world religions. Thank you.
11. From Miss L.T.B.T., Can Tho
When I received your letter dated July 25, 2001, I was absolutely enthralled, and was very encouraged by your words. I would like to reply to your questions. I did receive the New Testament “Path to Victory” that you sent to me. The testimonies of the athletes in that book were very helpful to me, and taught me many valuable lessons. The book also helped enrich my English. Thank you for remembering me and writing to me, even after 4 years. Regarding my correspondence: I have sent you many letters, but none of them reached their destination. From now on, I will not send them from Can Tho. I’ll wait until someone goes to Saigon to mail my letters.
Nguon Song has been very beneficial to my soul. But I am very disappointed, because for some reason, the signal is not very clear in my area. (Sometimes it’s clear, sometimes it’s not.) Or maybe it’s because my radio is not a very good one. I pray that God will give me a really good radio. Your broadcast has great programs everyday that are really relevant to our lives today. But I am also praying that you will soon have a Children’s Program like you did years ago. I think children have a real need to learn God’s Word, so that they will walk in the way of the Lord when they grow up. I really hope this wish will come true some day soon.
12. From Mr. D.V.N., Dong Nai
I recently heard you broadcast a program about the role of the husband/father in the family. I thought it was really good. I was really moved because it was a very beneficial lesson to me. I wish that you will have more programs on family living. Because of a work-related accident, I am now paralyzed from the waist down. Even though I am not a Christian, I pray that God will bring me out of this difficult situation. Please pray for me also. Thank you.
