September 2000
Note: "Nguon Song" or "Spring of Life" is the name of Vietnamese broadcast on the FEBC Radio.
1. From Mr. N.V.L., Hai Duong
I thank God and thank you all so much for the beautiful and spiritually meaningful calendar you gave me. In our area, the Word of God preached through your radio station come most clearly on the 25meter band, from 8 to 9:30. Please do not change this frequency even though I understand that on the 13th of August you are going to change the frequency of the broadcast from 7:00 to 8:00. I'd like to share that God truly does exist. I have experienced His power and have realized the evils of Satan. There will come a day when all the non-believers in the world will be punished, and the believers with joyfully see the second coming of Jesus Christ. Even so, I still have difficulties. Please pray for me so I can overcome the power of Satan and the world. Please pray for my church, that we may soon build a facility, either small or large, even though Jesus might return at any time. You know, there are many evil spirits in the world. There is much sin, suffering and evil. I have seen evil spirits with my own eyes, like I told you in my previous letter. That story in the Bible about Jesus casting out demons is certainly true.
I agree with you when you said in one of your programs that Satan can control any aspect of people's life. Look, from high to low ranking officers, on television and radio, they burn incense to worship the devil. Because of my financial situation, I cannot write a long letter. The cost of postage stamps is very high, and I still live with my parents, who are not Christians. I hope you understand. Please send me 2 or 3 stamps, because your stamps are very valuable. Please pray for me, so that I can break apart from my family and live on my own.
Now I have these questions for the "Dialogue" program: 1. Would a person who has believed God with his whole heart, and witnessed to everyone he knows, helping them to forsake all idols, and yet has not been baptized, would he be saved? And 2. A person who believes and has been baptized, goes to church, but still worships idols, would he be saved? Please answer these questions in the "Dialogue" program for all the listeners to hear, because there are a lot of people living this way. Thank you.
2. From Miss N.T.K.T., Vung Tau
I am one among a countless number of your listeners. About 4 or 5 years ago, I received a gift from you. These encouraging gifts were very precious to me. They were very helpful to me on my road to following Christ and serving Him. But for the past 3 years, I have not received any letters from you, and have been very disappointed. I remembered in your last letter, you asked me to list for you which materials I had received from you so that you could send me the materials I didn't have yet. I responded with a detailed letter, but I never heard from you. Since then, I have written another 3 letters, the last one in November 1999, but I still don't know if you ever received them. My last hope was to receive a Christmas card from you, but it never came. I am very sad. This time, because I have a friend going to the United States, I'm asking him to send this letter to you with the hope of being able to get in touch with you again. So please let me know if you receive this letter. When you write to me, please help me know how to witness to a Catholic person effectively, because almost all of my co-workers are Catholics. I really want them to be saved. Thank you.
3. From Mr. G.T.H., Ho Chi Minh City
Our whole family was very touched to receive your letter. Enclosed was the lesson from the "Faith Illustrated" program. Thank God that you have the heart to serve and help our family in our ministry. Please remember to pray for our family, so that we can make more copies of the material to give away to our brothers and sisters both near and far. As of now, there are some families that live too far away and don't have radios to listen to your broadcast. Two weeks ago, I saw an elderly lady, over 70 years old, who had to go to someone else's house to listen to your program. Her home is far from the church, and there are no roads for cars. If she wants to go to church, she would have to go in a small boat, and it would take about 2 hours. In Soc Trang and Tra On, there are many believers who need and want to hear God's Word. Thank God that there are Christian programs broadcast every day. I wish every family and every home could have a radio to listen to your broadcasts. Thank you very much for your help.
4. From Mr. N.T.N., Ho Chi Minh City
First of all, I would like to give my praises to God for every thing. May He richly bless the staff at Nguon Song Radio station so that I will continue to hear your voices daily, to increase my knowledge of the Word of God. You have been sending me the devotional "Live by God's Word," monthly since 1989, and from that, I have learned many truths in the Bible, especially about the prophecies that are being fulfilled in present times. I thank God for choosing me to be His child. In 1989 Nguon Song sent me a New Translation Bible, and I often use it to share about Christ with my friends.
5. From Mr. P.V.S., Pleiku
I was very glad to receive your letter which encouraged me in my walk with God. Thank you for taking the time to write a letter to encourage me in difficult times. When I told some of my friends that I had sent you a letter, and they told me that there was a chance you might not receive it, or if you receive it and send me some materials, I might not get it. I think they were right, because I have only received one letter in response from you. Therefore, please don't bother with sending me a Bible anymore. My brothers and sisters here will make copies for me. In addition to that, listening to your broadcasts will also help me grow in my faith and have peace in my heart. Before this, because I didn't have a Bible in my hands, my continual longing for a Bible kept eating at me. But my fear of never receiving one has extinguished that longing. Anyway, once again, thank you for your reply. May God always protect His children so that everyone may grow in their faith.
6. From Mr. T.P.C., Da Nang
I am truly very happy to have received all the lessons that you sent me. Thank God. Through these essential lessons, I deeply understand God's saving grace towards sinners, and my own responsibility to help you in your task of bringing the Good News to all people. I listen to your morning broadcast every day, it is very clear. But if possible, I would suggest that you move the broadcast 30 minutes earlier. At that hour, there is not much interference from other stations, and that way, we can listen as we get ready to go to work. If you keep it at 6:15 to 7:15, we can't listen because we're busy with work. That's my suggestion about the time of the broadcast for next year. Lord willing, you will be able to make that change to meet the needs of listeners.
The lessons #1 and #2 that you sent are very valuable, but there were so few that I couldn't loan them out to our brothers and sisters here. Is there any way you can contact the authorities, especially the Culture and Education Office, to get permission to send more lessons for the churches to distribute? Or, can we ask permission from the government to make photocopies of these materials? Here, when I send the lessons to be photocopied, the stores don't dare to do it for me because it's illegal. I always remember you in my prayers. Please also remember to pray for my family. Thank you.
7. From Miss B.T.H., Hai Phong
I just wanted to let you know that I received your letter. I am really moved to see the caring hearts of you pastors and servants of Christ, how you remember me. Please remember to pray for me and my family. May God's power and Spirit continue to bless Nguon Song radio ministry every day, so that the signal may be clear and everyone might have the opportunity to tune in and listen to the Gospel. Here, my family and some others tune to your broadcast every morning. When the weather is bad, it's very difficult to hear the broadcast. May God continue to bless you. Thank you for your stamps. It helps me send my letters to you.
