Responses from Vietnamese Listeners

August 2003

Note: "Nguon Song" or "Spring of Life" is the name of Vietnamese broadcast on the FEBC Radio.

From Mr. P.V.N., Ho Chi Minh City

I am one of many Vietnamese people who love to listen to Nguon Song. I believe you are made of love and truth. Your voices are passionate, and everyone who hears you are drawn to what you say. Nguon Song heals wounded hearts, strengthens wills, helps people find the truth and turn to the Lord. The world today needs God's Word more than anything else. I am really grateful to you for establishing the opportunity for Nguon Song to bring God's Word to all people. May our Lord Jesus bless you.

From Ms. T.H.T., ---

First of all, I would like to thank the Nguon Song staff. I am just a worthless sinner, but God chose me. So I love God very much, and I also love all my brothers and sisters in Christ. I used to get sick a lot, but ever since I became a Christian, my health has been much better, by God's mercy (Psalm 103:3). Since the year 2000, I have sent you several letters. I don't have a house, but I use my father's address and have been very glad to receive your letters there. Besides the time I spend in ministry, the rest of my life (please don't laugh at me) is very poor. I collect used items to be recycled. If I didn't have faith in God, I probably couldn't endure this life. I am a single mother raising 4 children. My husband and I have been divorced for 14 years now. My family is Catholic, but my children are Buddhist. I became a Christian 7 years ago. Every day I come home from work exhausted but I can't sleep. At night I just wait for the Nguon Song broadcast to come on like a lullaby. I listen so intently, and fall asleep without realizing it. I am very disappointed on the days I can't find your frequency. May God bless you abundantly, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

From Mrs. T.H.D., Ho Chi Minh City

I received your letter on August 16 and was very glad. Thank God, because I have not been receiving your letters these past few years. I thank the Nguon Song staff for your loving hearts in praying for my family. Thank God for answering my prayers, because my two children in the US are now Christians. I only know to praise God without ceasing for that. If you have any Bible lessons in English, can you please send them to my children? They live in San Jose, California. Thank you and God bless you all.

From Mr. V.T.H., ---

I have received your letter dated 07-25-03 this morning, and now I sit here to write a response to you. But I feel guilty because I have received letters and Christmas cards in the past that I didn't reply to. Please forgive me. Several years ago, I wrote to you to request a Bible because Bibles were scarce back then. You let me know that you sent one to me, but I never received it. You probably know where that Bible ended up. Bibles are no longer scarce because the government allows them to be printed in Ha Noi, and the price is affordable. This is a reason for us to praise God. Every day, during my devotion time, I remember you and ask God to bless you and supply all your needs. At night I faithfully listen to your broadcast to learn and enrich my knowledge of God's Word.

We have more modern conveniences here now, so it is no longer necessary to record your programs onto cassette tapes. However, every now and then, new Christians do have to use the cassette tapes, because there families give them a hard time about listening to your program. The quality of your frequency is still good, but whether or not your broadcast can be heard depends on which radio you use. I use a Phillips radio, so the quality is always good and sounds just like a local station... the tribal Christians in the mountain areas are enduring severe persecution. Please pray for them. I never received any of the Bible lessons that you sent. If possible, please send me the lessons on Marriage and Family, Satan in Today's World, and In His Steps. Thank you. Please send these to me little by little, and hopefully I will receive them. May the Holy Spirit be with you.

From Mrs. V.T.A., Ho Chi Minh City

I was very touched to receive your letter, with the enclosed lesson about Mary, mother of Jesus. I felt closeness by just looking at the envelope and the return address. I also thank God because over the past 10 years my relationship with you has grown. I also thank God because no one else in my circle of friends has received Christmas cards and booklets like I have received from you. I am not selfish with my books, so I have begun to let my friends borrow them. Thank God that your books made it into my hands safely, and what I was the most excited about was the lessons on Women of the Bible. These are wonderful things that God has been bringing into my life, especially the book "Building a Strong Family." I believe that God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary tasks. In the lesson on Mary, you said, "Grace is receiving something you don't deserve." I see myself that way. I'm just like a worm that is loved by God. The more I read Nguon Song's material, the more I experience God's love. I really treasure these books and I also like to share them with my friends. Thank you very much Nguon Song. You are my mentors and teachers, guiding me one step at a time in my walk with God.

I always remember your song "I walked where Jesus walked... to Gethsemane, to Golgotha..." When I was 14, I became a Christian because my mother was a Christian. And when my mother passed away in 1983, I was depressed. I decided to turn on your broadcast to find comfort, and one day that song came on. It was then that I finally realized God had chosen me.

From Mrs. T.T.D., Quang Nam

This is the second letter I have sent to you. The last one I wrote a long time ago, but never received a response. It was probably lost. I have been a regular Nguon Song listener all this year. Because you preach and bring God's Word to us, I now believe and love God more and more each day. I believe that Jesus is my guide. However, I still don't have a Bible. Can you please send me 2 copies? One is for my friend whom I want to share God with. And if possible, can you also send me a tape of hymns for those times I feel sad, so that I can listen and feel close to God. Why haven't you had the Listeners' Mailbag program lately? Maybe you can alternate between having sermons and the Listeners' Mailbag so that people like me would know whether or not you received our letters.

From Mr. N.T.K., Can Tho

I was very glad to receive your letter and the books that you sent. I received Faith and Marriage, Part 3. Thank you very much. As for your frequency, it is very clear at night, but the morning broadcast is often very hard to tune into. I have not been able to hear your broadcast for about 2 months now because my radio is broken and I haven't had a chance to have it repaired. Thank you for sending me the letter, books and stamps too.

From Mrs. N.T.A.T., Dong Nai

I have not been able to write to you recently because I've been in the field raising silkworms. I hope that this letter finds you well, so that you may continue to bring God's Word to the world so that many may be believe in the Lord and be saved. Three years ago, I wrote to you to request 3 songs from you. I really like these 3 songs but can't find them here. When you play them on the radio, I can't copy them down fast enough. Through the Listeners' Mailbag, I know that my letter reached you, and the announcer promised to send me those songs. However, I have been waiting and waiting for 3 years, but have not received a single song. I am very sad, but don't know what to do about it. Now that Christmas is coming, I'd like to request those 3 songs from you again. I am 70 years old this year but can still sing quite well. I still have many opportunities to give my testimony in church. Thank you very much.

On behalf of Christian workers in Vietnam, I would like to welcome FEBC's new president. May God fill him with strength so that he may fulfill this great responsibility that God has bestowed upon him. Our people thank God because He has used Nguon Song in a mighty way to bring God's Good News to people who have never heard the Gospel before, and to comfort and encourage Christians when they are persecuted for their faith. The near 200,000 Hmong people who have come to faith in Christ are a testimony of the Holy Spirit's work through your radio ministry! God also uses Hmong Christians to witness to the Dao people. And today there are many Dao Christians who came to faith through the Hmong Christians and through FEBC radio ministry. Praise God! We know that you are facing financial difficulties, and want you to know that you are supporting you and praying for you.

I have received your letter. I have also contacted you to buy Bibles for some of my friends in college. I am very busy with school, but would also like to study God's Word more so that I can serve Him. I am now reading the book of Acts. I heard that you have a Bible study program to study the book of Acts verse by verse. I don't know how to obtain this lesson. Can you please help me? With sincere thanks to you all.

From Miss T.T.M.D., via e-mail

Thank you very much for sending me the next lesson in Satan in Today's World, and Faith Illustrated. These lessons are very needed and beneficial to me. Please send me the remaining lessons, so that I can use them in our church Bible studies.

From Miss T.H., Texas, via e-mail

Thank God for using you in a special way so that your program gets better and better every day. The interviews on the broadcasts the other day were very moving. Please send me the lessons from the Sept. 16, 03 broadcast: Science and Faith: Salt, Poetry (Lesson 11): Ecclesiastes 5:1-7, and Words of Hope: How to Pray.

From Mr. V.T.L., via e-mail

I am a believer in Christ. Thank you for giving me the joy of listening to God's Word every day. May the Lord give you all good health and strong voices so that you can continue to bring His Word to the people of Viet Nam. I have just listened to your programs today and I praise the Lord for them. Please send me the lesson entitled "Worship in the local church" which was broadcast at 7:00 pm, on September 16, 2003. I wish to share this lesson with some friends so that they too can worship God in a way that will be pleasing to Him. Thank you.

From Mr. N.T.A., via e-mail

I have received your e-mail, thank you for your warm greetings. I pray that God will bless you and your family abundantly. Last year, I have received lessons 1 to 13 from the series "Faith Illustrated," except lesson 5. And I have also received all of the lessons from the series "Satan in Today's World." Please continue to send me lessons on other subjects so I can study more the Word of God.
