July 2002
Note: "Nguon Song" or "Spring of Life" is the name of Vietnamese broadcast on the FEBC Radio.
From Mr. N.D.T., Binh Dinh
I have been a faithful listener of yours since 1968. In fact, I had joined your Bible Correspondent course in the 1970’s. I thank God that He didn’t only save me but my entire family. In 1968, I was sent to a Christian orphanage in Binh Dinh, where I came to faith in Christ. From then on I have been praying for salvation for my loved ones, and praise God, after 21 years of persistent prayers, my mother accepted Christ in 1990. Today, there are 38 believers in my extended family, and 100 in my hometown. Please give thanks and praise to God with me for He has done wonderful things for my family and me. Since the day I accepted Christ, I realized how much God loves me and therefore I had dedicated my life to Him, to serve Him all my life.
Through the years, though often times I had to face hardship and difficulties, I thank God for He has protected me, given me peace and strength as I need them. In 1992, I began to take some Bible courses here, and sometimes I had to record your programs for my resources. Programs such as Old Testament History, Major & Minor Prophets, etc. Recently I have been recording other programs like “Basic Christianity” and “Science & Faith” to give to new believers in our church. Since Nguon Song’s signals are not always strong and clear, I could not record everything I need. Even though, I have completed several series of your teachings on cassette tapes and gave them to the new believers. I am very encouraged when seeing them learn God’s Word and grow in their faith.
I hope that you will help me to have all the lessons on “Who’s Who in the Bible,” “Faith Illustrated,” and “Marriage & Family.” I will put these lessons on tapes and give them to members of our church. Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon.
From Mrs. T.T.T., Ho Chi Minh City
I was very happy to receive your letter and your gift too. May the Holy Spirit be with you always, so that the Living Word that you preach may endure from generation to generation, benefiting all those who seek the Lord. As for me, because I go to church during your broadcast, I can only listen to half of it when I get home, but I am still glad to be able to listen to God’s Word through your programs. Please send my greetings to Van Pham Nguon Song. Our church uses their devotional every morning. We pray for you weekly, that God would give you the mind of Christ as you serve Him.
From Mrs. P.T.H., Tam Ky
Thank God that I received your letter the other day, as well as the valuable book that you sent me. I rejoice because the book is food for my soul, very beneficial to my spiritual life. The book especially teaches me how to have a blessed life in Christ. I just finished reading that book, as well as Volumes 1 and 2 of the series about Sarah. I have now loaned that book to the women at my church. They have read it, and long to have other books to read as well. We hope that you will pray that God might open the doors so that there will be other books and training materials to help us women grow in our knowledge of God, so that our lives would be fruitful.
I am really happy and thank God that I have gotten to know you all through your broadcast. And even more importantly, I have the opportunity to study God’s Word. This is a treasure that God has given me, and I only know to bow my head and thank Him for that. May God pour out His Holy Spirit upon each of His servants, so that you may have enough grace and strength to carry out the great responsibilities He has given you.
Once again, on behalf of my family, I thank you for thinking of us, sending us letters and gifts, and for praying for us.
From Mr. N.V.Q., Da Nang
First of all, I pray that God would be with the entire Nguon Song staff, and give you wisdom as you serve Him. Thank God, for allowing me to listen to Nguon Song on a regular basis. You are people who understand a lot about the Bible and explain difficult passages to us. Because of that, we are able to understand a lot, and your music has caused us to love Christian music and learn Biblical truth. You are truly our fathers, mothers and teachers who nurture us to maturity.
Dear Nguon Song, I still have not received the materials you sent me. I am very disappointed. I am now studying the Life of Christ series, book 3. Please remember to pray for our church and myself as well. We are facing a lot of difficulties. Could you please also send me another program guide? I gave away the first one that you gave me. I would also like to request the song “Psalm 23.”
From Miss D.T.H., Quang Nam
First of all, may the Almighty God of love bless you in your service. Perhaps it has been awhile since I’ve written to you, and you have probably been waiting to hear from me. This past Christmas, I was very happy to receive your letter and greeting card. I wanted to respond right away, but was unable to. Today, God has made a way for me to write to you finally. I hope you understand. The school year has begun again, so now I can only go to church on Sundays. I am unable to go to the mid-week Bible study, because church is too far away from my home. I really thank God for His great love. He doesn’t want His children to be spiritually lost, so when I left home to go to school, Trans World Radio provided me with a very cute radio. The radio is small, but God’s Word that comes through it is not small. God’s power is so amazing, I cannot describe it. I only know to say Hallelujah and thank Him for it. During the entire school year, that radio has been my constant companion, bringing God’s Word to me, causing me to love Him even more.
God is really the all-knowing God. He knows the needs of His children. I am so glad that He uses His servants to preach His Word over the radio. I know a lot of people now need to know God, especially me. Could you help me to learn more about God through printed materials? If possible, please send me lessons from the series “Science and Faith.”
I found Pastor Quang’s Bible lessons very beneficial, but was sorry that I wasn’t able to listen to the entire program, since I go to prayer meetings on Tuesday nights. If possible, can you please rebroadcast it, or provide me with a cassette tape? I think it might be difficult to send tapes to Vietnam. May God be with you, and give you new strength to serve Him.
From Mr. L.T.H., Ho Chi Minh City
This is the first time I have written to Nguon Song. I am a tailor, living in Ho Chi Minh City. For about the past 2 years, I have been listening to the Voice of Peace and Happiness broadcast from the United States, but recently I could not hear it anymore. Because I really love to listen to God’s Word preached from the Bible, I often turn the radio on to search for a Christian station. One day, by chance, I tuned into Nguon Song’s signal. I was anxious and wondering what station it was, and I said to myself, “Let’s listen and see.” The more I listened; I learned new and wonderful things that I had never heard before. Your program has many meaningful and practical features that are very applicable to everyday life.
You know, I myself was born and raised in a family that practices ancestral worship. In my travels and work, I have studied and examined the teachings of many different religions, looking for the purpose of life. I have studied different philosophies, from evolution to Transcendentalism, etc. But none of those things satisfied me. I felt like I did getting more and more lost in a jungle, not know which direction to take. A lot of times I was very depressed and anxious. The higher I climbed, the bigger the obstacles were. I went up and down, and down and out, fumbling through the darkness with no sense of direction. Now, by the grace of God, I have the opportunity to hear the teaching of God’s Word. Through Voice of Peace and Happiness, as well as Nguon Song Radio, and through a Bible verse, a light has gone on in my mind: “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” This verse is engraved on my mind. Day after day, listening to your teachings has sparked a wonderful light to shine deep into my conscience, allowing me to see the things that I have been embraced all my life that have been making me miserable.
Now when I think back, I see the horrible path I walked without the light of faith. Now that I am getting nurtured in the Word, my soul feels lighter. I have left behind the burdens of the past. With God’s help, I can now see that life has meaning. Even though I still face a lot of difficulties, I am not discouraged, because I depend on God’s strength. Because God shines His light on my path, everything in life is clearer. Concerning the hymns and gospel songs used in your broadcasts, they are so sweet, deep and comforting, lightening my heart and causing me to love God more. I am very moved, and thank you all.
You have endured hardship and sacrificed your time to bring God’s precious Word to your listeners near and far, and especially to me. What you are doing is so valuable and meaningful. Nothing can compare.
There is one thing I really need and wish to have: a Bible. Where can I find one to buy? May you always have good health.
From Mr. G.T.T.N., Binh Duong
I thank God for giving me this opportunity to write to you. I have not been able to listen to your broadcast since the beginning of the year, and I am very sad about it. I have not been able to listen to God’s Word every day because my radio is broken. Today is the first day I have been able to listen to Nguon Song and your voices again. I am so glad to know that you pray for and think of me. Today I write this letter first of all to thank you for sending me the booklet “Basic Doctrines.” I have already read through it, and as promised, I will share it with others. I recently experienced a lot of difficulties in my physical and spiritual life. But I thank God for making a way for me to get through it. After these trials, my faith has matured a great deal. I recently attended a Basic Bible class. Please pray for me. I would like to dedicate my life for full time ministry, but I am only in the 9th grade, but according to the church, you have to have a high school diploma. Is there any way you can help me? I would like to request the new program guide, material on different denominations, and the Marriage and Family lessons.
From Miss H.T.N.D., Long An
On June 3rd, 2002 I received your letter and four lessons from the series “Conflicts in Marriage,” thank you very much. As I read these materials, I can see how I have failed in my marriage. My husband has left our little baby and me to go back to his parents. Now he does not go to church anymore. As for my child and me, we still go to church every Sunday, and I have dedicated him to God. Although the path before me is still difficult, as I listen to Nguon Song broadcast daily, I find much comfort and encouragement. I also feel close to God. I believe that God is with me and He will help me through. On a given day, if for some reasons I could not listen to your broadcast, I feel restless. It seems like something very important to me is missing. On the contrary, when I am able to listen to your teaching of God’s Word, there is peace in my heart. I am just like a child who has been nurtured by God’s Word, and my faith is growing steadily. I would like to request the Bible lesson entitled: “Christ, the real image of God” from the program “Words of Hope” broadcast on June 25, 2002. Thank you for your help.
