July 2001
Note: "Nguon Song" or "Spring of Life" is the name of Vietnamese broadcast on the FEBC Radio.
From Mr. N.H.M., Ha Noi
Dear friends, you don’t know how glad I was to receive your letter. Your letter came to me on a Thursday afternoon, right after I arrived at school. I had not yet had a chance to rest after the half hour bike ride to the campus, covering 10 km. The letter had a Philippine postmark, and I was so excited because I knew for sure that it was from you. I opened the letter excitedly, forgetting all my tiredness. Your letter was like medicine to me, curing my tiredness. After reading your letter and seeing the program guide, I was very moved because you thought of me, and even sent me stamps to use to respond. After reading your letter, my friends wanted to know about Nguon Song and your programs, so I told them about the interesting and beneficial things I received when I listen to your broadcasts. My friends seemed to like what they heard, so I made copies of the program guide you sent me. Hopefully, they will tune in and many people will be saved.
Before I received this letter, I received a parcel containing a cassette tape and a booklet. Thank you for that gift. Recently, for unknown reasons, there has been a lot of static during your evening broadcasts. There are many nights when I cannot hear it. I guess there’s another station somewhere that is interfering, or maybe your signal has not been strong enough. The morning broadcast clear, but unfortunately, I can’t listen to the whole thing because I have to leave for school by 6:30 AM. Even so, I always try to listen to as many broadcasts as possible.
From Mr. N.V.Q., Quang Ngai
First of all, greetings to the entire Nguon Song staff. May you your ministry grow and your signal become stronger everyday. Thank you for acknowledging that you received my letter, but it has been 5 weeks now, and I still have not received your reply. I hear a lot of really good songs over the airwaves that you have already given to me. You are truly fathers, mothers, and teachers. Please send me the following songs: I Thank You Lord, This is the Day, If You are the Sun...
From Mrs. N.T.N.H., Tien Giang
I was very glad to return to my hometown and receive two of your letters. I have been delayed in my reply because of poor health. Now I don’t have to worry about not being able to listen to Nguon Song. Even if I have to fine-tune my radio, it’s a normal occurrence. Unfortunately, I have not yet been lead to receive Christ, the faith that I need. I really enjoy all of your sermons and teachings. The more I listen, the more I hope to remember, so that I can apply it to my life. In reality, my life is still full of problems. I still get angry and I still hate some people around me. My sins are still many. My husband and I have not really been getting along. We don’t really talk about it, but our problems have been rather serious since 1995. I have accepted Christ, but my husband still denies Him. My parents disagree with me also, but I don’t think that’s very important. Ever s since I became ill, my friend has not been taking me to church anymore. Please help me find a way out of these problems. Please reply to my letter, and do not mention my letter over the airwaves in the Listeners’ Mailbag. Please continue to send me the lessons on Marriage. I have received the Conflict in Marriage #2. Thank you very much.
From Miss T.D.T., Ho Chi Minh City
I thank you very much for taking the time out to write to me and send me materials. Thank God that He has not left me alone in dealing with the trials of life. I felt God’s love through you when I received your letter and materials. I also hope that you might think of me and pray for me in my walk with Christ. In the evenings, I really like to listen to your broadcasts, but there is often static interference, or the signal gets lost, making it really difficult to listen regularly.
From Miss D.T.H., Quang Nam
Thank God that I have the opportunity to write to you today. I wanted to let you know that I have received the lesson “Streams in the Desert #1” that you sent to me about a month ago. Perhaps everyone who listens to Nguon Song (including myself) wishes that they could talk with you and ask you to help them learn more about God’s Word. Every week, I can only listen to you on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On the other nights, I have prayer meetings that I attend. But today, my radio is out of batteries, so I have to listen off of someone else’s radio. So I have only been able to listen for an hour, from 7 – 8 PM. I hear that a lot of people write to you to request lessons, but I don’t know which lessons to ask for, because all of the lessons are good. You can send me any materials, but please especially remember to send me “Streams in the Desert #2.” Thank you very much.
From Mr. N.H.A. & N.A.H., Binh Thuan
Ever since you changed your morning broadcast to 5 – 6 AM, then the 25-meter band has been completely inaudible. I wanted to let you know that, so your technicians might know to fix it. Just the 41-meter band broadcast from 7 – 8 PM is very clear and consistent. Because we have been unable to receive any of the letters or materials that you have sent us all year, we do not dare request anything further.
From Miss N., Bien Hoa
I would like to express my gratefulness and admiration toward your ministry. You have been faithful in preaching the Word of God. I know that I am ignorant, but have a habit of expressing my opinions. I tend to make a lot of suggestions to you, but my knowledge is very limited. Please forgive me if I have unreasonable ideas. I would really like to receive the scripts from your Tuesday programs. For example, the programs
- Guong Mau va Cac Loi Tam Huyet- Xin Day Chung Toi Cau Nguyen - Xin Nuoc Cha Mau Den
Earlier I received the lesson “Faith Illustrated #1 and 2” twice. I read them and found them very beneficial. They are short stories that help me when I go astray.
From Mr. H.N.L., Dong Nai
It’s been a long time since I’ve written to you, but I always think of you during my quiet time. I still hear your familiar voices, full of God’s love. Your voices go out to all people, helping them to understand the Truth and grow in their faith. I hope that this loving voice will continue to echo and reach the hearts of all people. The Christians here continue to pray that God will use you through Nguon Song, because during this time, this is the most effective way to preach the Gospel. It’s even more effective than personal evangelism. Even though there are other stations that interfere, it hope that it doesn’t have that big of an effect. I hope that there is a way to strengthen your signal. We would like to request the following lessons: Marriage Preparations (so that I can share them with the young people at church), Bible Lessons on Timothy and Titus, from the Following Christ’s Footsteps Program. The lesson “God is Our Father” from the Words of Hope program, broadcast on July 3, 2001. Thank you very much.
From Mr. D.Q., Binh Phuoc
Recently I have been able to listen to Nguon Song’s broadcast every night, and today I have the opportunity to write to you. I pray that God blesses you and gives you wisdom to preach God’s Word via Nguon Song Radio, and that those of us here can listen to it everyday. Please send us some of your songs. In this mountainous area, every Saturday night we hear the song “NGUYEN THEO CHUA KHONG THOI.” Please send me a copy of this song. Thank you very much.
From Mr. L.D.T., Quang Nam
To tell you the truth, nothing has made me as happy as when I received your letter. Ever since I sent you my letter, I have been listening carefully to the Listeners’ Mailbag Program. It wasn’t until the 4th week that I heard that you had received it. And I have been waiting for your reply ever since. I wasn’t sure how long it would be before I received it. Thank God that today I have received it. I am really happy. I wanted to let you know that I have received the letter and all the materials you sent to me. I know that it is very costly, but I don’t have anything to give you, except my prayers that God will continue to provide for your ministry. May God give you health so that you can continue to serve daily in Nguon Song’s ministry. There is one program that I listen to regularly and enjoy the best: “Words of Hope.” It is a program that really brings joy and hope in Christ Jesus. I would really like to have these lessons to reread and share them with my friends. If possible, please send me the following lessons: “What Must I Do to be Saved?” “Unity in the Body of Christ” “Worshipping God in the Local Church.” And please send me the following songs “Tears of the Sower,” “I Give My Life to You.”
From Miss N.T.T.V., Can Tho
I am now teaching at a school for handicapped children. I have some deaf and blind students. Thank God that 5 of my blind students have accepted Christ. Concerning the quality of your signal, in my area, it is only clear at 8 PM. I would like it to be clear in the morning, because there are no television stations to compete with at this time. Also, listening to God’s Word in the morning gives you strength to face the rest of the day. Please send me Bible Lessons for Adults, and some Gospel songs. Thank you.
From Mr. P.V.N., Ho Chi Minh City
A friend of mine told me about some sort of “Nguon Song” station on my short-wave radio that would teach about the Bible. I have listened to it 3 times, and found that your sermons are very good. However, when I returned to my hometown, I could not listen to your station clearly. There’s static and there are a lot of other stations interfering. I really like to listen to your station, and sometimes I sit fixing the dial for half an hour, trying to find the signal. Please send me approximately 10 program guides so I know how to find your station, and so that I can give them to my friends so that they can listen too. I became a Christian a few months ago, and would like some Bible lessons to learn more about it. I would like to share God’s Word with non-Christians so that many people might be saved. Please send me cassettes or books. Thank you.
From Mr. L.T.D., Binh Duong (e-mail)
I am a college student. I thank God that through the air wave I’ve got to know you, servants of God, Nguon Song Radio, and got to listen to the teaching of His Word. May God richly bless you so that your ministries will even be more effective. God’s Word is just like the source of fresh water for my soul, which gives my heart great peace and satisfaction. There has been many times that I would like to write to you, to share with you my joy of listening to your teaching of God’s Word but the cost of postage has prevent me of doing so. Now I am so happy to have your e-mail address. Through this means probably I can write to you more often. I love to listen to the songs in your broadcast and wish that I would be able to have some of them to sing praises to the Lord. My parents are also in ministry, they are serving in a local church. Please remember us in your prayers. Thank you.
From Miss D.T.H., Quang Nam
In my hometown your signal comes very clear. When I received your letter, I am not the only happy but my pastor and almost every one in the church are also happy. Every one here wanted to correspond with you. My pastor told me that when I write to you I could request any material because anything would be valuable to us. Since I began to listen to your program, my life is happier, because now I can receive spiritual food for my soul. God is so good to me. I would like to request the lesson “Streams In the Desert”. Thank you.
