Responses from Vietnamese Listeners

May 1999

Note: "Nguon Song" or "Spring of Life" is the name of Vietnamese broadcast on the FEBC Radio.

1. Mr. H.V.N., Utah, USA

Yesterday, on April 13th, I happened to pick up your broadcast on the radio, from Manila, Philippines (from 8-9:30 pm; 7-8:30 am Utah time). I was pleased and encouraged to be able to listen to the teaching of God's Word, sacred music and Bible reading. I hope that you can help me by sending me materials from your broadcast so I can share them in my church. I am looking forward to receiving your help.

2. Miss N.T.H., Tien Giang

I was very pleased to receive your reply to my letter. I sincerely thank you for taking time to write to me. Today, Wednesday morning, I listened to the program on marriage and family and heard the message on the importance of family devotions. I pray that God would help me apply what I heard and learned. I also listened to a message on the Lord's return. I pray that God would call some of my children to full-time ministry.

3. Mr. K.A., Lam Dong

It has been three years since I last wrote to you. My first letter was on November 17, 1996. After sending that letter, for an entire month, I had to go to a friend's house in order to hear your "Listener's Mailbag." program. I wanted to see if you received my letter. My family and I and all my Christian friends were all happy to learn that you received my letter and will send us some Bible lessons. However, we waited week after week, month after month, until today and still have not received anything. That is why I am writing you again to request the following: 1) Sermons on Christ's birth, His teachings, suffering and resurrection, 2) Testimonies from those who experienced miracles from God, 3) Our church "Da Tham," is one of the most persecuted churches in the area; every time government officials come, they take away all the Bibles and hymnbooks and fine us over $100. We thank God that we now are able to worship God in peace; however, we still do not have a pastor. Please pray for us, 4) On behalf of 250 church members, we would appreciate your financial support so that we can build a chapel. Thank you

4. Mr. T.P.C., Da Nang

I just received your letter and am overjoyed at your response. Along with your letter, I received a small 1999 calendar and a copy of the message "Facing Temptations." I have faithfully listened to your broadcast over three years now. My family and I have been nurtured by your broadcast all these years. I introduced your broadcast to many people and have added many new listeners to your program. My parents, and many of my brothers and sisters and now some of my grandchildren have accepted the Lord. I sincerely thank you.

I would like to suggest the following changes for your broadcast: 1) If it is possible, please move the time of the broadcast to 5:30 in the morning instead of 6:30, and 2) At the opening of the broadcast, have a short prayer, so the listeners would pay more attention to the program (like the BBC program which is short and interesting).

I always pray for you and your ministry every Friday.

5. Mrs. T.N.T., Ho Chi Minh City

We thank God that we are able to listen to God's Word every evening through your broadcast. Last year I sent you a letter and heard that you received it and had sent us some materials. However, even until today, I still have not received the materials. Perhaps they got lost in the mail and we don't know why. Even though we did not receive the materials, we thank you for trying to help us.

Please send my daughter, who is living in the U.S., resources on marriage and family, especially on the problem of marrying an unbeliever.

6. Mr. N.V.Q., Ho Chi Minh City

I thank God that I am able to listen to your broadcast on a regular basis. I received your letter, but I did not receive the booklets you sent. I think it is a good idea to divide the books into small parts to mail to your listeners. Honestly, I do not want to request many resources from you because I know it is difficult for listeners to receive them and expensive for you to send them to us. That is why I record your broadcast and write it down. However, I am only able to do this when the signal is strong and clear. By doing this, I now have transcripts from many of your broadcast such as: "Science & Faith," "In Christ's Footsteps," "Dialogues," etc.

However, in regard to the series "Eight Basic Doctrines of Salvation," I was only able to record five of the lessons. Sometimes the signal was weak and got interference from other stations. No matter how much I tried, I still could not hear anything. Out of anger, I unplugged the radio. Afterwards I regret my behavior for letting my anger and the devil win. God has taught me and encouraged me in many ways through His messages on your broadcast. Please send me the three lessons that I missed from the "Eight Basic Doctrines of Salvation" series: Repentance, Justification and Regeneration. Please also send me the Bible study lesson on March 23, 1999, from the program "Words of Hope." Thank you.

7. Mr. L.N.H.V, Da Nang

I am a faithful listener of your broadcast; I listen to your broadcast every morning. I only listen from 6:30-7:15 am, when the BBC broadcast has ended. I don't know what to say to express my gratitude to God and to you for the work that you are doing: preaching the gospel and nurturing the faith of many believers. I often tell my Christian friends that there are many pastors who live in my home and help me every day to walk with God and to grow in my faith. I have grown day by day in the Lord through your broadcast. I also feel called by God to serve Him in full-time ministry. Perhaps you may be wondering why I have waited until now to write to you. The reason is that although we are miles apart I have grown to love you and your ministry. It's time for that one-way love to end so I have taken the courage to write to you and let you know how I feel. I am completely satisfied and am overjoyed to be able to bathe in the streams of blessings poured out through your broadcast, from programs such as "Basic Christianity" and "Marriage and Family." I have been learning to serve the Lord for the past several years. Right now I hope to visit every church in Vietnam in order to have a part in bringing the gospel to all Vietnamese people.

Please send me "Basic Christianity," especially the messages on April 7th & 14th, 1999. Please be assured that I will not waste your materials because I will use them for myself and share them with others as well. 8. Mr. N.V.M., Dong Nai

I was very pleased to receive the materials I requested from Nguon Song radio. It's a joy to be able to share God's messages with others around me. I have four children, two boys and two girls and would greatly benefit from resources on marriage, family, and raising children in the Lord. Please also send me a Bible with both Old and New Testaments. Thank you.

9. Mrs. D.T.N., Hai Phong

I thank God that I am still able to listen to your broadcast every morning and evening. May God bless the Nguon Song radio staff so that you can continue to help us understand the Word of God. I learned that you sent me a calendar and a Christmas card, but I have yet to receive them. Maybe the devil stopped the delivery somewhere. However, I thank the Lord for your ministry and for helping me. I would like to request the booklets "Points to Ponder" #3 & 4. The Bible references on the "Dialogues" program Friday night are sometimes given too fast, and I am not able to write them down. Please state the references slowly so that your listeners can write them down. I try to write down as much as I can when I listen to the broadcast. Afterwards, I study the passages again at my own pace in order to fully understand God's Word. May God bless you! You always have good messages to give to the listeners.

10. Mr. N.D.L., Quang Nam

I was very happy to receive two booklets from you: "Foundations for True Happiness" and "We are Salt and Light of the World." Thank you very much for sending them to me. Please continue to send me resources in the same manner as before, because I am able to receive them easier this way. I am still assisting the Senior Pastor of a church in Quang Nam. The church uses many methods to share the gospel to others. One of the ways is to introduce people to the Nguon Song radio broadcast. We thank God that there have been several people who came to know the Lord through your broadcast.

Please send me the following booklets: "Peace with God," "Building a Strong Family," and "Christianity and the Vietnamese People." Please also send me the transcripts from the "Words of Hope" program beginning in 1998 until today. Thank you very much.

11. Mr. N.Q.H., Ho Chi Minh City

I am a regular listener of Nguon Song radio from Manila, Philippines. Through your programs I heard the program "Words of Hope," which broadcast Jesus' teaching on prayer. I hope that you can send me this material so I can learn more about prayer.

12. Mr. P.T.K., Dak Lak

A while ago I wrote a letter to Nguon Song, but I probably had the wrong address because I never heard from you. This is my second letter to you. I have been living in this city for four years. There are no Christians and no churches here. I have not seen even one church and for the past four years I have never been to church. I am very sad and lonely. However, in my heart I still love the Lord. It has been two years now since I first found your broadcast. Although I am far away from home and church, I am comforted by the messages from your radio broadcast. I listen to your programs in the morning as well as in the evening. At night, I do not go out; I just sit at home and listen to your broadcast.

Please send me resources and a Bible so I can study and learn more about God's Word.
