Thailand - October, 2004

FEBC Thailand's radio ministry consists of radio production and distribution to local stations throughout the country. The following letter translations are representative of inquiring listeners.

A story from the mail:

A letter writer told us that he found himself taken to court for a murder he hadn't committed. He didn't have a lawyer and one was appointed for him. He had no faith in this person - she was young woman and she told him he was her first case! She asked him what religion he was. He said Buddhist. The lawyer told him she was a Christian and told him about Jesus and how his death made a way for him to be forgiven sins for eternity. He believed. He was secret believer at first. He found old Bible lessons from another prisoner and studied them to know more about the Lord and the Bible. Then that prisoner suggested he apply for our Bible Correspondence Course. His case was thrown out.

Mr. Adul; Nakhonsrithamarat

Hello to all of the team……I have finished the 6th lesson now and am so happy to be able to have my dream come true! I am glad I can come to this place in my life. I have chosen to accept Christ into my life - what would you say if I don't have the opportunity to go to Church. I want to know where the nearest place is and one day I might go. I am a servant in this house so it wouldn't be suitable to come and visit me here. I will come and visit you when I find the opportunity. My boss teaches me to go the right way and I treat them as my substitute parents.

Ms. Nittya; Ayuthaya

I am so pleased that I can listen to the program This Life Still Has Hope because it fits perfectly with listeners who have lost all hope. This is my first time to listen and I count myself lucky for finding it on the dial! I had courage to keep on going right away as I listened. I am without work and have no-one in the world who cares about me. I get depressed.

Thank you for making this good program and letting listeners know Jesus more.

Ms. Maneelat; Khon Kaen

This Life Still Has an Answer:

I have received your letter and I listen to the program regularly. I have done as you suggested and have forgiven the person now. I would like to know more about being a Christian. I have been in a Church but only as a spectator. Is it wrong if I do Buddhist things on the outside, but inside in my heart I believe in Jesus Christ. It's because I can't get out of doing the household prayers at night before going to bed. The older ones would know if I stopped. If you answer me on the air, please don't give my name as my whole family listens!

Ms. Nattanee; Bangkok

My parents and ancestors have been Buddhists all their lives and I have never heard of Jesus Christ before I heard this program "There's Still the Dawn." I requested a booklet from you and then asked for the Bible Corre3spondence Course. I would like to believe but have the following questions first:

  • 1) If I believe and then die -Where will I be buried, what kind of service will it be.
  • 2) If my husband is a Buddhist and I am Christian, what will it be like.
  • 3) Supposing I let God lead my life, will it improve?
  • 4) Can I just study about God and not go to Church?
  • Mrs. Homjan; Nonbualamphu

    A listener story:

A listener who had believed through the programs rang in on Sat. 23rd November and said that she had moved from Nakhornsrithamarat to Phuket. She had found a Christian family and they have given her work. When she had word that her uncle was terminally ill, they let her travel to see him and she was able to share Jesus with him before he died. She was now going back to work again!
