(Hmong from Laos)

This is my first letter that I have written to you. I am a church leader and we have 15 Christian families where I live. Your radio is the only main source of the Bible that we can depend on.

I want to tell you about the time that I came to know Jesus Christ. Also about how I came to be a church leader from the time I was a communist agent and now.

My wife and I were married in 1974. She was a believer but I was not. After the country fell to communism I did not want to flee from the country. In 1977 the Laotian government selected me to work with them in a government position. Many people were close to having me killed because of the many terrible things that they would say about me, mainly because I was Hmong.

The only reason why I am still living to see the day of light presently is because of the -prayers of my wife. My wife was there to support me through all of what has happened.

Because of her daily joy that she exhibited through life I noticed she had something special in her heart that made her so happy. I began to read the gospel of Jesus Christ and then the Bible. Sometimes, most of the time, I would read well into the night. In 1978 I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into my heart.

From this moment on when fellow government officials heard that I had accepted the Lord, they protested against my presence in the Laotian government. Many of my friends began to hate me. My possession ceased as I was put in jail.

I then told the government about the Christian lifestyle and that it was not a threat to their security, only a blessing.

It has been 10 faithful years now that the Laotian government has monitored our daily lives with approval. They trust us when we built a church. Our finances are short so any help that can be sent will help. May you and FEBC supply some part of that short finance for us? Let me know soon if something can be done toward our projects in God.

Would you also send any Hmong Christian literature that we could use? Anything useful like hymnbooks, teaching tapes, and what not.

Finally we don't know what our future is going to be like. We trust only in the Lord so keep on broadcasting, so that we will learn and teach others. Thanks.

(Hmong from China)

It is a great privilege to have been able to write this letter to you. By the grace of God my family and I have been able to accept the Lord through your daily broadcasting through radio.

It has been a year since I have come to know the Lord. When I think about having Him in my heart I feel a peace and joy that cannot be expressed through words. But when I think about all those who are tortured and beat because they love Jesus I wonder why this must happen to many of us.

I have questioned these things particularly due to an incident I have faced. Last month government officials came to our village just to check and see if there were any Christians living in the village. They found out that four of us, including myself, took part in leadership of a Hmong Christian group. They handcuffed us and then beat us severely. We were nearly unconscious.

Later on, my family took me to a hospital to cure of my physical attack. The doctors and nurses questioned me on how I may have been injured. I straight out told them that the reason I was so scarred was due to the government beating of my involvement as a Christian in my village. Despite the relatively easy answer I gave them, most denied me the right to medication simply because they refused to help a believer of the Lord.

I begged and begged them to help me. They made comments like, 'only medicine for non-believers, none that can cure Christians." I had to pay three time more than normal out of my own pocket to get the treatment that I needed. They also forced out of the hospital the very second I was able to leave.

Money was borrowed from outside sources. Government officials fined me for being a Christian just because of my beliefs.

Pastor what should we do? Should we do everything and get caught or die secretly for the sake of the future?

Please understand that many of us live in fear. We don't know what is going to happen to our lives tomorrow. Pray that we will have His strength and His power to conquer all evil. No matter what happens we must hold our ground as believers.

Lastly, keep on broadcasting the love of Christ. We also need a word of encouragement from you to keep up on our faith in the Lord. Thank you.

I just want to let you know that I came to accept Jesus through your broadcast. Please do not send any Bibles ouf way. Forgive my wishes but let's just say that the communist government does not like the shipping of any Bibles to our area.

Even now my family and I love to listen to your broadcast. We really enjoy learning about the great stories and lessons learned in the scriptures of the Bible.

Thank you very much for you love and concern for many of us that have made numerous requests.

However every time you send something to us of Biblical knowledge, the mail persons will report to the government about what has arrived. Officers will come and take whatever comes. Then later the officers will arrest those responsible.

If you know of anyone who would come in to China and enter as a tourist, maybe we could receive some materials. This way no one will know. We will let you know when the time is right for action.

Even now we are going through very hard trials in life. But the fact remains that we still hold faith in the Lord. We don't know what the future holds for us but forget not the service that you and FEBC holds for many Hmong people living in dedication to the Lord. Keep on sending the Gospel to us all. Thank you.
