DZH8
The satisfactory result of this directional beaming of the DZH8 signal is indicated by reports from listeners. Mr. Taaffe of Pahang, Malaya describes the signal strength humorously: "Your station comes through like a `Bull in a China Shop"', and Noel Nipps, a Christian Medical student in Madras, India says in a recent letter: "I just have to turn the volume control to a little over one third of its fullest range for people in the remotest part of the house to hear the program. I mention this to give you some idea of the strength of your station. I've never tried it, but if I did turn the volume on full, it would shake the house!" Missionaries in Siam say, "During the past several months we have been able to hear your station. Recently reception has been improved and tonight we have had a wonderful time listening almost continuously from 1200 until 1500 GMT. The reception has been excellent. The Lord of Harvest is giving you marvelous ministry-keep up the good work till Jesus comes!"
ONLY CHRIST AND HIM CRUCIFIED
The ministry of the Far East Broadcasting Company has been, and continues to be, nonsectarian in nature. Broadcasting the gospel message of the Saving Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ to a widespread and fast closing Orient, is clearly too large and urgent a task to be impeded by introducing to the listeners opposing doctrinal issues. The radio ministry is the result of the combined efforts of missionaries and native workers of many different evangelical denominations who lay aside differences to unite their strength, to bring to the peoples of the Far East, the message of Salvation, before it is too late! Appreciation for this ministry is expressed by a Christian Brother in Singapore: "As far as I have noticed your programs are non-sectarian, they only seek to propagate Christianity in this part of the world. May God bless you to this end."
A Eurasian writing from India puts it this way: "I do not like to claim myself as belonging to any particular denomination, for in Heaven all labels will be stripped off, and all `Born again', Bloodwashed Believers will be our only title to the Wonderful Place."
THE CORNERS OF THE EARTH
The far-reaching radio waves of the five Call of the Orient Stations, claim a vast area for its parish. Isolated high in the Himalayas, on the western border of Nepal and not far from the borders of Tibet, a missionary writes: "Except
for our radio we are really cut off from the world. We are happy to say that we are now hearing your station. We were especially pleased to hear the gospel songs and programs as we have not been able to get any such programs since leaving India
21/2 years ago." Dipping down to India, the signal reaches a listener in the hot city of Calcutta. He writes: "I received your program of Requests for Sacred Music yesterday on 15.3 on the 19 meter band and how comforting it was. A new kind of inward peace came into me and refreshed me very much." Speeding across the vast continent of Africa, it is heard by a staff member of a hospital in Capetown. "Your programs are excellent and the one I enjoy most is the one I am listening to now, i.e., your Gospel Song Request program." Out in the Island World of the Pacific a missionary and his wife listen; "We were very thrilled when we picked up the Far East Broadcasting Company in the 19 meter band with excellent reception at most times. We are missionaries working in these islands for the extension of the kingdom of Christ and it is indeed refreshing to hear a radio program run on such evangelical lines as yours. We gratefully enjoy the male quartette and the children's chorus singing the inspiring tunes that we use in our mission work."
It is the privilege of the Call of the Orient to carry on its schedule a program dedicated to missionaries in this part of the world. The Missionary Mail Bag exchanges news and greetings among the brethren who minister to the needs of people of the Far East.
