Listener Responses - March 1955

The following listener excerpts were published (along with occasional editorial comments) in the March 1955 Far East Broadcaster and/or its accompanying newsletters of the same date.

Note the letter from famous Chinese pastor Leland Wang, who assisted FEBC in it first local broadcasts in Shanghai in 1947, and who subsequently was forced to leave China because of the communist takeover. Rev. Wang did in fact visit Manila in May of 1954, considerably before this letter was published to the U.S. supporters. The "DZAS" referred to is more likely one of the "DZH- short wave transmitters.

"We can never tell in words how grateful we all are for the wonderful services this station is giving us. We continue to learn of God through the Church services. Through Jesus Christ Our Lord we have received wonderful blessings which God has manifested to us in various ways ... my daily listening gave me inspiration to change my course of education to the study of the Bible. I like to serve God. Beginning this June I'll be studying at a Bible School."

Dear Bro. Will: (Schubert)

... Recently I have been traveling in Biliiton, Bangka, Bandung, Sukabumi, Djakarta, Cheribon, Makassar and Bali. In most places I visited the people have heard me over DZAS and some were saved by the message. It encouraged my heart very much. Several times I heard my own preaching. I wish I could do better. That is why I wish to come to Manila for 59 days to devote my time to tape recording right on the spot.""

Yours in Christ,

Leland Wang

FROM Boude C. Moore

... My father was a faithful evangelist in Japan for 46 years. He worked in the country, going from village to town to village without resting. He made a point of seeing to it that every house in his rather broad area received an invitation to hear the message. But in spite of all the invitations, he rarely spoke to more than 2 or 3 at a time. I believe it to be a fact that I speak in one broadcast to more people than he was able to reach in 4 to 5 years. Perhaps the radio audience is even larger than that. This not only is a matter of interest but brings great responsibility upon us to see that a true and effective message is at all times presented."

KOBE, JAPAN

"I have heard last night your broadcast. I am now sick abed and desire to know of Christianity. I will be grateful and blessed if you will please send me a New Testament."
