Topic of the Month - Testimonies and Difficulties in Preaching the Gospel
There's a deep-rooted tradition of worshipping ancestors
I live in a small village. There's no church and few people know Jesus Christ. I try to share the Gospel to people around me, but only a few accept. I think it's because I am a new convert and have difficulty in expressing clearly what I believe in. Another reason is that there is a deep-rooted tradition of worshipping ancestors in villages like ours. People believe that their ancestors have the power to bless them. Now I would like to rent a neighboring house as a meeting place. Those who want to believe in Christ may then know where to go.

It's God's miraculous arrangement
During a visit in Guangdong, the wife of my cousin planned to take me and four relatives to Shenzheng for a day trip. On the night before, I felt good after dinner. Yet after sleeping for a short while, I felt a severe toothache and couldn't go with them next morning. My cousin, his eight-year-old daughter and I thus left at home. Before noon I fully recovered. Incidentally I knew it was God's miraculous arrangement because I could then make use of this opportunity to talk with them about Jesus and His salvation. Thanks be to God. My cousin was quite interested while his daughter said that she wanted to go to heaven.
I went to Guangzhou next day. I have three friends living there, two being believers and one not, whose name is Lee. I visited him and knew that he is very eager to pursue money. He spends a lot of time after work in share market. I persuaded him to re-think his life purpose. I asked him "what good it is for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul". Please pray that he and his whole family will turn to Jesus Christ.

I should testify for God through my good deeds
I have been a Christian for many years. Other people always tease me because of my religion. They make fun of me saying that if there's God, I shouldn't eat anymore as he should sustain my life. They think that those who go to church are abnormal, either very old or mentally ill. I feel very upset by these remarks. What should I do to evangelize them?
I usually preach the Gospel to the old people. They really have tender hearts. As most young people reject the message, I am discouraged. Instead of preaching by speech, I decide to testify for God through my good deeds. I hope that God will improve my personality and behavior.

She didn't give up
I received Jesus Christ as my Savior in 1990. There is a church in my village. It was formed by several women who were either sick, abused by their husband, or demon possessed. They are all enthusiastic in preaching the Gospel. One of them lives next to me. It's she introduce Jesus to me.
I was married in late eighties. After marriage, I spent all my savings in building our new house. I became in debt and had to work very hard for a living. Finally I was infected by tuberculosis in 1990. Although I received medical treatment, my health did not improve. One day, a sister came to visit us and talked about the Gospel. I was initially very negative. However she didn't give up and kept visiting us. She showed her concern and at the same time preached the Gospel every day for more than a month. Finally my wife decided that she accepted Jesus first. If God is true, she would then ask me to follow suit.
From then on she attends worship gatherings regularly. When she's back, she sings hymns to me and even borrows some hymn books for me to read. I find that the text is very good and become interested in Christianity. One Sunday morning, my wife woke me up and persuaded me to go to church. Unwillingly, I went with her. We were warmly and sincerely welcomed by the Christians there. I was touched by their love and kindness. During the sermon time, a sister talked about the difference between God's love and man's love. I was moved by the message and felt a fire-like warmth in my heart.

I wanted to refute the Gospel
When I first listened to your programs, I hoped to find your wrongs to refute the Gospel. Before that, I had learaned about Jesus. My grandma is a devoted Christian and always told me about Bible stories when I was a child. But I rejected her, her God and the theory of creation. I even argued with her. Yet strangely, when I listened to your broadcast, I was convinced by your message. I converted to Jesus Christ and went to church with my grandma since then.
As a new reborn Christian, I began talking to my friends and relatives about Jesus. Their reaction was cold and unfriendly. They even advised me not to get too involved in religion. I was almost in tears when they left me alone. Yet when I know that Jesus is always with me, I feel much better.
Since graduating from high school, I have been taking correspondence courses. I plan to take the entrance examination of a technical college next year. Although I seldom see my friends now, I always write to them and share the Gospel with them in letters.
